Hoover and Suwanee- just curious and absolutely no disrespect to the Hurricanes but what have they done to warrant top 3 on your lists? |

It looks like the best match up in Pool play is the Hurricanes vs RBF Saturday morning. I understand some teams have picked up players for tourney. |

In the semi finals (i will not mention teams) a pitcher through 70 curves out of 89 pitches. He had a great curve but 70 seemed a little overboard. Any opinions? |

TC put on a great tournament as usual. Fowler Park was nice, games were on time, and the scoreboards worked. Only wish that it wasn't so hot!! |

TC put on a great tournament but would anyone other than me like to see the name of the tournament inscribed on the back of the same medal / ribbon or something like that? Just a suggestion after hearing some of the kids mention it and my own opinion and I know everyone has them and they all stink at times. I actually love the TC tourneys because of the number of top teams they draw and the number of teams overall. Great tourneys all the way around. Also I had the pleasure to be sitting in the room with the TD on Saturday and heard him handling a situation that involved some of the umpires that weren't on the ball so to speak. I almost started to applaud him and offer him an after tourney drink or two, at the way he handled it. Very much to the point, matter of fact and very professional. Also love the way his staff on hand were handling all the updates as they came in.

I will say it. Play up. You have nothing left to prove in local 11u tournaments where the fields are maybe four or five teams deep with teams who may challenge you. That is a compliment to your team itsbaseballtime now don't go looking to turn it into a bash. |

I won't... Thanks, that was a compliment... some should. We have won 8 tourneys and don't look at any of them as easy...4-5, 9-10 that can challenge us???? Bull****, We know every team we have beaten can challenge/beat us.... Keep playing!!!!

Hoover- i will agree with you 100%. Everyone has their own opinions and i hope i dont get blasted but 70 curve balls is a bit...no a lot overboard (and i will have to take your word for it if they were curve balls- i wasnt able to see that game). In fact- i think 89 pitches is a little overboard. I have seen guys on here that obvioulsy believe 70 to 100 pitches (plus warm ups before the game and between innings) is just fine. All i can say is- why take the risk? You will find doctors and "experts" who say that many pitches at 10, 11 and 12 is just fine. But most of them say its too much, especially if it is an every day position player who has already played in multiple games repeatedly throwing on the infield or from the outfield- or worse-catcher. Again- why take the risk? Is winning that important? Not for me and my son! |

You are absolutely correct dirtdiamond. My husband and I were two of those fans that allowed the pressure of a close game to get to us. This is not normal for us and we have felt terrible ever since. While we are passionate fans, we try to do our best to maintain respect for ourselves and the game. Those that know us, know that we do not normally act this way and to those that don't, please be assured that it will not happen again.
I would also like to take a moment to clear something up.....My husband was accused of saying something ugly to a player. There was a close play at second and what he did say was, "Oh, you're out kid, get off the base". He didn't yell it at the kid and didn't even realize he had said it loud enough for others to hear. There were others around that heard what he said, but one person thought he heard something different. I promise you all that he did not say the derogatory comment that he was accused of. We would both like to apologize to everyone at the game for the fact that anything was said at all. We shouldn't have said anything and allowed everything to be worked out between the coaches and the umpires. I want to make a personal apology directly to the child involved and his parents. While I don't feel that it was said loud enough for the child to hear, like I stated before, nothing should have been said at all. I do not know this player's parents personally, but I have watched this child play on numerous occasions. He puts everything he has in to every play. We have even told our son in the past to watch this young man and see how much heart and effort he puts in every time he takes the field.
Once again, my husband and I apologize to everyone at the game. |

Congratulations to Sawnee Mountain Thunder for winning the Silver Bracket. They beat the NYO Dirtbags 9-7. Both teams easily could have competed in the Gold Bracket but missed out because of some many teams going 1-1. NYO not bad at all for being a rec all star team. |

I didn't get to read dirtdiamond's post but if I'm guessing correctly as to you fanofthegame I believe I chatted with you and your husband a couple of weeks ago. Didn't sound like something you'd say and I almost casually walked over to ask but there was a lot of commotion going on during that game so I stayed clear.
Sounds like you got caught up in the heat of the game itself and meant nothing toward the kid at all.
The kid you're referring to gives it his heart and soul each game he is out there and if I'm correct in my assumption your son always gives it everything he has and is a very competitive 11U player as well.
Anyone can make a mistake but it takes a special person to stand up and admit it for sure.

I was coaching first and did not hear anything.. It is always a competitive game between our teams as it should be. I believe the 2 teams are 2 of the top teams in the state.
Thanks for the apology. . I know you would not say something to hurt a child. I tip my hat( if I wore one) to you and your husband... BTW- your kids did a great job Sunday...

I am the parent of the kid who was talked about. Thanks for the appology. I know how games get when they are played in such a competetive atmosphere. Tempers do flare up and things get said in the heat of the moment. I do appreciate our coach for taking up for my kid. I was upset at the time however cooler heads prevailed. Thanks again for stepping up and confronting the issue so there will not be any further issues. |

Dirtdiamond did not call out any any particular team or people. He just pointed out that he had witnessed some bad behavior by the adults at some of the games and that we should set a better example for the kids.
Congratulations to your team on a great win. Maybe we'll get to see you guys again over the next couple of weeks for what is always an exciting game. quote: Originally posted by itsbaseballtime

Thanks so much for accepting our apology. I know that does not come easily when we feel that someone has attacked our children. You have set a great example for us to follow. Good luck to your son and his teammates as we finish out the season. quote: Originally posted by xyzbaseball
