We're headed to a PG showcase in Ft. Myers. Baseball stuff starts Dec. 28 but we'll be there early to get in some beach time. Anybody have any hotel/condo recommendations? Anybody ever stay at the Diamond Head?
Not sure why fanatic is saying not to go. I assume you are talking about the Perfect Game Main Showcase. My son and I went last year and it was good. Unfortunately, I'm not sure where to tell you to stay. My father lives about 30 minutes from the field, so we stayed with him. They are tons of places to stay down there though. The beach is only around 30 minutes away and there are plenty of hotels within a couple of exits from the field.

If you want to be at the Ocean, but still an easy drive to the fields, look over at Ft. Myers Beach. There are several condos and hotels (along with shops and restaurants) along Estero Blvd.
DO NOT STAY OVER ON SANIBEL ISLAND. It is a great place to stay if you are trying to get away but is terribly slow getting off the island due to a small bridge. One way on, one way off.
