| Pool (I) looks pretty tough. Astros and Roadrunners in same pool. Home plate has looked good this season as well. |

Congrats to the Gwinnett teams!! A sweep of the TC Gold (dragon slayers Signature Park) and Silver (Mountain View Bears, a first year team).
Great tournament with all the "big boys" and "favorites" going down early and often. Parity in baseball in the greater Atlanta area is good for youth baseball.

Thanks TAZ, it was a good win. We had a lot of fun this weekend as we always do at EC. The boys got a kick out of being able to go head to head with the most talented team around in the Astros. It was an exciting championship game to watch. We jumped out early scoring 4 in the first and then the Astros battled back to tie it in the 6th. It got interesting in the 8th when the Astros had runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs, but our boys dug deep and got out of the inning unscathed, then scored 3 in the top of the 9th, and held the Astros to 1 run in the bottom of the 9th to win the championship game 7-5. It was a total team effort, playing strong in every facet of the game. Our boys are certainly not the biggest, fastest, or strongest 14U players around, but they make up for it with heart and grit, and come to play hard every game.
Hats off to the Astros, they are a very formidable team. The same can be said about the Chain Yankees. We played them in the semis and they took us to 8 innings, but we were fortunate enough to come out on top 8-6. We were also impressed with the talent and coaching of the other teams we played, East Cobb Braves, East Cobb Rangers, East Cobb Canes and 6-4-3 DP. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going after coming from behind to beat the Gwinnett Titans to win the TC Forsyth County Slugfest tournament, the March Madness tournament and now the TC Back to School Bash tourney.
As mentioned above, congrats also goes out to the Mountain View Bears who won the Silver by beating the East Cobb Braves 7-3.

Signature Park Hawks surprise me. I didn't think you guys would have anything for the Astros but I watched one of those extra innings and you pulled it off. I knew you could beat the Titans a few weeks ago, but now the Astros. Nice job.
The coaching staff is friendly. The players come out calm and respectful. I've had you guys probably 6 or 7 times now, one of the best teams to umpire for. |

Our boys just love to play baseball and they have a lot of fun just being a team. The boys respect the game, play even-keeled, and try to win with grace and lose with dignity. We have no superstars, we don’t obsess over stats or individual or team recognition. We focus on playing good fundamental baseball, giving max effort at all times, and enjoying the ride (knowing medals tarnish and trophies are lost, but memories are forever). There is a handful of kids on this team that began playing together as the Mill Creek Hawks Pee Wee All Stars when they were 8 years old. Travel baseball was unknown in Gwinnett County at that time. Coach Davenport and I have had a blast coaching the boys that have played for us over the years as the Mill Creek Hawks and now the Signature Park Hawks. We have had our share of being knocked around and have come a long way from those beginnings, but know we still have a long way to go. Yes we have had some good wins and we are very proud of our boys, but we all know how fleeting success can be. We just hope to be competitive when we play in tournaments especially against the great teams (Astros, RoadRunners...). I'm sure we will continue to take our lumps at times, but every now and then even a blind squirrel ....

| Taz, I will agree that they are super kids. If you want to talk superstars, you need to look no further than some of the rosters of the big boys. Quite impressive. The Astros, for example, has a listed roster of 18 very talented players from various high schools around the metro area and in other states. There is no doubt that the East Cobb program is the gold standard of baseball in Georgia, and beyond. Over the last several years the 14U Astros program itself has won a slew of national championships and has averaged something like 62 wins and less than 6 losses per season. They are perennially ranked in the top 10 in the country by various polls and are currently #1 in the nation in the 14U USSSA power rankings. Coach Roberts has definitely continued the great tradition at EC and has done a tremendous job. I know a lot of people like to hate on them, but I see that as just an indication of how good they are. The Signature Park facility and program is gradually building and hopefully someday it can be on par with the East Cobb program and other successful area programs. Speaking of success, congrats goes to the East Cobb Pride and the Titans for recently earning berths to the Elite 32. I also wanted to congratulate the Sawnee Mountain Thunder for winning the Bronze bracket at the TC Back to School Brawl this past weekend. |

You know we will IBBT, because, to Funnyhop’s previous point, parity in the 14U division has really developed to the point that there are many dangerous teams out there that can beat you at any time. The line between gold and silver brackets can be quite fine. If you don’t focus or play well, you can quickly be headed for an early exit in any given tournament.
Coming from the Gwinnett area I know teams like the Mountain View Bears, Parkview Panthers, North Gwinnett Bulldogs, and the Collins Hill Eagles are more than capable of taking it to anyone. In addition to those Gwinnett teams, just think about all the other talented and capable teams that are out there on the 14U level: the 13 EC teams (Astros, Pride, Stars, Reebok, Braves, Rangers, Canes, Longhorns, Expos …..),Ga Roadrunners, Home Plate Chilidogs, Titans, Chain, Team Georgia, 6-4-3 DP, Sidewinders, Patriot Baseball, Team Elite, Sharon Springs, Kennesaw, and our own Signature Park Hawks, just to name a few ( well actually about 30 and I know I inadvertently left other good teams off this list but just rattling off some names that popped into my head). After the heavyweights, it would be hard to say who would rank where because of the parity of the 14U teams and the periodic inconsistent play and injuries that pop up at various times and tournaments that you still get at this age group.
It has, and will continue to be, a very interesting season to watch develop, wouldn't you agree?

Pretty much most of the teams you have named. I really think TGBA has picked up a lot of talent compared to last season. They are a team to watch in the next big tourney. Looks like most of these teams have upgraded their talent from last season.quote:
