Much shuffling is already going on. Too many rumors to even consider keeping up with as always is the case. They are flying left and right and have my son playing out of the southside or slightly between there and the Cobb area and on three teams already. For me as a parent and one that has coached since 1985 I take it all with a grain of salt. It's people using whatever recruiting tactics they can to get it done, but usually not coming close to what they promise.

I want badly for people to lay their egos aside (parents, coaches, facility owners and kids) from Valdosta to Ringgold and build the best team you can build out of your area for whatever division it is you are building for.

Right now, this year I'm going to have to put the Bulldogs up in the top five for sure. I'm a Sting fan so don't get me wrong. When they're healthy they're very very competitive. Same with RBI, a very healthy team when healthy. Injuries and the loss of players late in the season has cost a few teams that edge they had. We'll see how it goes and who knows what next year will have in store.

As a dad I love football but for all my sons (although playing youth and one playing on Tatnall's state championship team a few years back) none of them pursued football at all. They had coaches asking them to play but it only made them resist even more it seemed and the youngest is no different. Loves to pass the ball and run routes with me and play at school with the kids but doesn't want to play organized football of any kind. Loves baseball more than anything in the world is getting more developed mentally as well as physically for the game he loves and I support him in his decision not to play just as I did the others.

Congrats to Coach Mike K. 2013 12u Astros Manager. Think he will bring integrity and the highest level of competition. My pick for Top 10 in the Country for 2013!
Question is does the Longhorns come back? Who stays and who doesnt make it. I understand they are about full.

Very interesting Top 10. Considering that the Warriors and 643 have not beaten the Astros all year. I believe they have played each other on multiple occassions and the Astros have won every time.

I hate to but I've got to agree with Calif, until you beat them on Sunday they are the top dog (643 has a win on them in pool but it's pool).

Now mom might be forward thinking to year end rankings, let's see how the year end tournaments play out.

643 did beat the Astros this year for what it's worth.

I agree Nutz, Rankings in the Pre Season or Start of the year. Then Mid season as to where most of the teams are. Then How they finish the year. The last one is the most important because those teams that were not on anybody's Radar early. Then consistantly improved throughout the year.

[qInteresting list to say the least. I have no problem with it... We all have opinions on this blog..But, what would this list be based off?

Bottom line is the Astros are a clear #1 in Georgia. Then the rest are battling for 2-10. What I find strange is everytime the Astros have a Bad game or even lose most not all on here throw them under the bus. Yet when other teams lose or don't even make the D1 Bracket or Silver or even lose in D2 nobody says a word except "they had a bad weekend"???? Just don't understand all the negative attitudes towards East Cobb, Which in my opinion has put Georgia on the Map when it comes to Baseball.

I'm sort of with C_B on this one - as an outsider watching from afar and now part of the mix inside the state, the Astros have pretty much been the class of the field, consistently for the past 2 seasons.. Sort of how NC is with the Cubs/Canes - one clear cut #1 and parity among the remaining top 5.

Not saying 2-10 cannot compete with the Astros, but to do so would require playing their best game.

For what it's worth, my 2- 5 would be 643, Sav Bulldogs, RBI, Sting, based on who we've played over the last 2 seasons, or who I've seen play...

I'd have to say Astros are #1. I saw 643 last year at the GA vs FLA & they were legit. The good thing is Astros, 643, & RBI will all be at TBS representing GA ball. With that said, the Yard Dogs teams that held down GA Travelball since 7U was not only the top team in GA but a top 5 team nationally for 7U, 8U, 9U & last year at 10U (you can still see it on the USSSA power rankings by year). Miss playing those guys, but looking forward to the next wave of GA teams. TBS get ready for some great 11U ball coming next week!

RBI beat the Stros in a final this year, 643 beat them in pool. No team in Georgia is unbeatable. Does that help ease the Astro bashing a little? LOL of course it doesn't. The haters will always hate until their child is on the team that everyone is hating regardless of what season / year it is. The Stros have lost other games as well but up to this point they've compiled an impressive record overall. My top seven in no particular order are:

Astros,
Warriors,
Bulldogs,
643 Cougars,
RBI,
Sting,
JCS,

As for the others such as the Jaguars, OTC, Gamers Red, Ringgold, West Forsyth, Hurricanes, Blue Jays and so on could battle each other day in and day out for the 8 - 10 spots. On that same note and on any given Saturday it's been proven that each of those teams in the top seven could beat the other as well as on the occasional Sunday.

You also know as well as I that any of the post top seven teams I listed could be on fire and take it to any of the top seven I've listed as well. In some tournaments it's happened already this year.

I have no idea how many the Astros will have available to them in the TBS. I do know that they've lost one player due to a move to Florida, two of their other playmakers after the Auburn tournament, one of their top hitters still has pains in his hand when making contact with the ball due to a recent broken bone in his hand that is healing but it's not slowing down his fielding at all, another one that just came back into the lineup and recovering from a broken bone in his hand or thumb, and their 2nd hardest throwing pitcher won't be available and hasn't been in over a month or longer to take the mound at all in the TBS.

None of this has slowed them down in the Georgia tournaments in recent weeks and playing against nearly everyone in the top seven in my list during those tournaments. I believe they have the talent and heart to do well but with the loss of much talent and each of those that are MIA being able to take the mound and get it done when called, how will the Stros respond?

Yes they did.. Coach P and the rest are great guys and coaches.. Best of luck to them in the rest of the summer...We played the Jaguars this past weekend. I must say their first base coach, Mike, and others are class acts. Some great conversations during our game. THANKS.... I know you would have liked the outcome to be different but ALL the kids from both sides played their hearts out.... great tournament...

Good luck to everyone in this "post season" if that's what you call it. Where can I find the TBS schedule for 11U?
