How can this team dictate who they play on Cooperstown?

They took a trip to Cooperstown to have the best baseball experience a 12u team can have....they dont control who they play and who signs up for their week in cooperstown.

Even boxing sets weight classes. Phenom did a great job bullying up on some lesser teams. They proved nothing and certainly did not challenge the boys. It is ok to build a team like Phenom, but at least find other teams like yourself to play!

My question with the Cooperstown is: Why not make this a WOOD bat tourny? 1)With teams setting themselves up as ringers, ie..BIG kids at the top of the 12 y/o age range who should be playing 13u. 2)The technology of the bats these days. 3)For the LOVE of baseball. I know, and I`m sure I speak what others think as well, I come to watch a kid (mine and others included) develop into baseball players. I dont come out to watch a homerun derby, dont get me wrong if I see homeruns with wood bats @ 225-250 I will stand and applaud. But when I see one H/R after another with these stacked teams, NOT so much....Just my 2 pennies

i dont know much about the phenom team but i have seen them listed in some bigger tournaments like elite 32 and tbs world series at east cobb. not sure any 12u team can compete with them but if they truely have the best of the best from around the country then who can?

They don't dictate who they play they just stack the deck to make it unrealistic for another team to win and in my opinion that is not what the experience is supposed to be all about. Go and have fun as the kids will absolutely love it, but have no expectation of winning the whole thing as long as CDP allows these kind of teams to enter the tournament. I just hope that no one gets hurt!

They need to fix the seeding. You can't do runs allowed. That lead to all the studs on one side. If you do runs scored it weeds out the ok teams who happen to get a super weak draw.

We just returned from Cooperstown, and wow did the boys have fun. We eneded up playing until after 1:00AM on Wednesday night, then having the game postponed until 8:30 Thursday morning to be completed. We started up in the fifth inning tied 4 -4, were tied again at the end of 6 innings and managed to pull out a win with the only triple play I have personally seen in travel. All this by 9:30 on Thursday morning.

I know my son had a great time. He met some great kids, played some great baseball, and made it to the sweet 16.

Decatur Dad -A dad, not a coach, who also wants to thank ALL the coaches who spent a week in wet cold barracks all week.

Just compared Phenom team roster on USSSA (25 total kids/most from Calif. with 6 or 7 from FL) with Cooperstown box score....starting lineup had four kids from Florida (plus one sub from Florida hit a HR)

Just now recovering from Cooperstown. :)

Decatur Vipers had a great tourney in week 1. 20 hrs in bracket play alone (38 hrs total in the tourney), we played 10 games.

As Decatur Dad said, we also turned a HUGE triple play, with bases loaded, walk off run on 3B, in the bottom of the 7th inning against the #3 seeded Treasure Coast Young Guns (tied 8-8 at that point...after being suspended in the 5th innning due to fog at 1:30am the night before) in bracket play, and then went on to win the game 10-8 in the 8th inning to make it to the sweet 16. That game had to be a 4 hour game, 4 1/2 innings on Wednesday night, 3 1/2 innings on Thursday morning. I've personally never seen a bigger, more timely defensive play at any level.

A gif of the triple play:

THAT IS NOT COOPERSTOWN DREAMS PARK!!!!!

This is an ENTIRELY different organization and location. Do not register for this thinking that you'll be playing at CDP. You'll be sorely disappointed. If you want to attend Cooperstown Baseball World, then it's a good deal, but not if you think you're signing up for CDP.
