The Sequoyah Jr Chiefs Baseball Club is currently scheduling tryouts for the upcoming 2018-2019 season. Our tryout dates for the 12U age group are as follows:

Saturday: July 14th
12U: 5:30-8:30pm

Saturday: July 21st
12U: 2:30-5:30pm

This tryout will be a clinic/coaching tryout run by Shawn Cheek, Director of Instruction for our program. The Sequoyah Jr Chiefs are looking for athletic players that have competitive baseball experience and are willing to learn, work hard and earn a spot on our roster. We prefer athletes that play other sports in the off-season and plan our training, practice and tournament schedule around those sports in the fall and winter. All of our teams have an open roster during tryouts and this squad will be adding roster spots to prepare for the trip to Cooperstown.

Our squad will have a light fall schedule consisting of indoor pitching/hitting instruction, outdoor practices, professional instruction and a couple of tournaments. The fall workouts will be held indoors at our private state of the art 4,000 square foot conditioned facility and outdoor practices will be held at our own private field. Our spring tournament schedule will be comprised of 12-14 tournaments and we will be competing at the Major level. Our Club has competed at Cooperstown since our inception in 2008 and this squad is headed there in 2019.

Our organization was established in 2008 and has a history of developing athletic kids into solid baseball players that have gone on to play high school and college baseball. Our program is not only endorsed by the Sequoyah High School coach, Lane Whitley, they workout at our facility, evaluate our teams, host camps and is a key contributor to our baseball operations. Our mission is to teach, mentor and prepare athletes to compete and play baseball at a high level and will do that through teaching core fundamentals to high character athletes that are both in and out of our high school district.

Offers and roster decisions will be made on or before August 1st and posted on our club website @ www.jrchiefsbaseball.com We encourage everyone to attend (2) tryouts and if you have a conflict we can schedule a private workout that fits your schedule.

The Sequoyah Jr Chiefs Baseball Club is located at 2066 Sugar Pike Rd Woodstock, GA 30188, where all home games, training and practices are held. If you have not played or visited our private campus and are looking for a home, we encourage you to come out and visit our private park as there is nothing like it.

There is a $30 fee for tryouts and all participants can register and pay on our website at www.jrchiefsbaseball.com

For more information, please contact Michael Costoulas at mcostoulas@jrchiefsbaseball.org

Answers to a few questions we have received:

1. Our Club has a Cooperstown Certificate and this team will be headed there to compete in 2019
2. This team will be carrying at least 12 players resulting in open roster spots
3. Private workouts can be scheduled by contacting Michael Costoulas at mcostoulas@jrchiefsbaseball.org
4. We practice and play out of our own private park. If you do nothing more, just come out and see our facilities and field.

Answers to additional questions:

1. Specific open positions - Tough question and it always depends on the players trying out. Our needs: strengthen our pitching rotation, middle infielder, first basemen and depth at outfield. We have a very fast, versatile, athletic team, and adding depth to any position would benefit any squad, including ours
2. How many players are returning from your previous team - We anticipate 9, as we have turned over 2-3 spots every season improving our roster and this year is no different
3. What week is your team going to Cooperstown - No team knows yet as they do not release the dates until October 1st. We have submitted our grandfather certificate, deposit and our preferred weeks. We will find out along with everyone else the beginning of October. We will be playing in June, just unsure of what specific week.
4. How many players do you intend on carrying on the roster - 12

We have (1) roster spot available and are looking for the right fit. We are looking to add pitching depth to our roster for our spring tournament season. If your son would like to play with a well coached high level travel baseball squad then we may be a fit. Workouts are private, with the squad and have to be scheduled.

If you and your son are interested or have any questions about our program, staff, tournament schedule, etc., please contact Coach Costoulas at mcostoulas@jrchiefsbaseball.org
