East Cobb Colt 45s NAVY 13u will be holding tryouts on July 8th.
The team will be coached by Kevin Rice.
Kevin Rice is a former college and pro player with more than 16 years of coaching experience. He has coached at every level from 10u all-stars, several travel teams from ages 10-17, and has coached at the high school level for 10 years winning a state title for Milton High School. He has also coached at the college level, has been apart of USA Baseball, and served as a scout as well. Many of his teams have gone on to win championships and achieve national rankings.
Over the last 16 years of coaching he has created a philosophy that has worked to develop over 60 college players and have seen 15 players drafted over the last 10 years. He believes in three goals for achieving success. First, is the worst thing that a coach can do is turn a player away from the great sport that is baseball. We want to make sure that the player wants to come back and continue to play baseball the next year by creating a fun but competitive environment. Secondly, we want to instill the fundamentals and philosophies that teach our players how to play the game the right way. We believe that the highlight of an athlete’s playing career should not be at 12 or 13 years old. We want to make sure that we give the values and skills to let each one of our players succeed at the high school, college, and pro levels. Thirdly, we focus on what it takes to win games, and be successful on and off the field.

Alan Horne will return as pitching coach. He played for University of Florida when they won the 2005 SEC Championship and were national runners up. He was drafted in 2001 first round by the Cleveland Indians. In 2005 he was drafted by the Yankees and played through 2011.

Tryout date : July 8, 2018
Time: 5pm-7pm
Location: Due to East Cobb fields in use for tournaments we will use Skip Wells Park (formerly Bells Ferry Park) 2334 Bells Ferry Rd., Marietta 30066
Tryout fee: $35
Please, if your son is interested in trying out, email name, previous team, position(s), and contact information to colt45s13u@outlook.com
