Coaches,
We know you are finalizing rosters and getting ready for the upcoming Fall season, so we wanted to email each of you about our new Fall Travel League. Back in May, we sent an email introducing our new Georgia Travel League and hope that you will consider us when finalizing your schedules. As you know, we are starting a new kind of Travel League with a soft launch starting this September. Other leagues have formed and folded over the years and none really survive. However, we at Georgia Travel League have put together the winning formula. Gary Cooper and Greg Blitz founded Georgia Travel League as we have constantly been reminded how there needs to be a league for A to AA Travel teams to play in. We hear this at every tournament RBI Tournaments (www.RBItournaments.com) hosts, so now we are proud to make this idea into a reality.

Teams need to go ahead and sign up at www.georgiatravelleague.com. Payments will be submitted at another time but go ahead and get registered now. The Fall schedule will consist of 10 to 12 games for age groups 8U to 15U, to be played either on Saturdays or Sundays based on your registration requirements. When you register, indicate if you can do any Saturday’s, but we know most will select Sunday’s based on football schedules.

SCHEDULING PROCESS

How does scheduling work? Each team will complete the registration process and include any blackout dates. Each team will receive equal amount of home and away games. You let us know which days you can play, the park you play out of, and we’ll create the scheduling. Teams will need to work with their booster club or Park and Rec Administrator to confirm dates you can play but you will play double headers in the Fall.

WHAT DOES YOUR FEE COVER

When we first emailed everyone, a number of coaches responded saying “thank you, it is about time we had a league like this”. Some asked “what does the fee cover”? Below is a breakdown:

-GA Travel League will coordinate all games from creating schedules to working with your parks. WE DO ALL THE MANAGING AND LOGISTICS where you just have to show up and play.

-In addition, we will work in coordinating umpires. The fee does not cover umpire cost as your parks/booster clubs usually invoice teams for that. On occasions where umpires are needed, we can schedule umpires and invoice the teams for their cost.

Fall tournaments run around $250 plus a gate fee as Spring tournaments cost anywhere from $325 to $500 plus gate fees. Teams in the Fall usually get 2 games with the top 2 seeds advancing to a championship game, thus some teams getting 3 games. Our Fall league is scheduling 10 to 12 games thus your $500 is a bargain even without the umpire coast.

-Winners of their division will get awards. We are looking into various types of awards including championship belts.

WHO CAN PLAY?

Teams will not have to travel on a weeknight to, say for example, the North Georgia Mountains. Teams will come from Cherokee, Dawson, Lumpkin, Gwinnett, Forsyth, North Fulton, and Hall Counties. Teams from further out can play but their games will be road games unless the other teams do not mind traveling. As we complete the soft launch and head into the Spring with the full launch of Georgia Travel League, we will consider expanding into the Southside of Atlanta for teams wanting to play in that area.

No major teams will be in this league as it will focus on matching A to AA level teams in one division and AAA teams in another division. If not enough AAA teams sign-up, then either all the teams in that division will need to approve the AAA team playing down or they can play up an age group in the lower division. Again the idea is to make the games fair and as competitive as possible.

RBI TOURNAMENTS FALL SCHEDULE:

In addition to the Fall League, we have 3 Fall tournaments planned. As you know, we specialize in the A to AA tournaments and want teams to compete against other teams that have similar talent levels. Other tournaments have teams that sign up and get grouped with AAA/Major teams which makes for a miserable experience. We try our hardest to make sure the competition is fair and our “Process” is documented online for the ones that want to learn more about it.

To sign-up, visit our site www.RBItournaments.com

-Back-to-Ball Fall Brawl, Sept 16th (Rock Creek Dawsonville & Sandlots) (Have fields on Sat if teams want to play that day)

-Autumn Battle of the Bats, October 6th (Central Park, Coal Mountain Parks - Forsyth County) (Have fields for Sat if teams want to play that day)

-Halloween Smash, October 28th (Rock Creek Dawsonville, Sandlots)

For more information about our new League or our tournaments, visit www.georgiatravelleague.com or call/email Greg Blitz at 678-708-8285 (greg.blitz@rbitournaments.com) or Gary Cooper at 404-268-6824 (gary.cooper@RBItournaments.com).

Coaches,

The message below was sent out last week regarding the new Travel Baseball League. We found out we had a bug in the registration that prevented teams from registering. That bug has been fixed. Teams that did register, please double check if you see your registration.

Please register your team now or as soon as possible if you plan to play. If you are going to wait around and see who's playing, then no one will really ever sign up. We know this is new, but if you are waiting around to see, then we want be able to deliver on what we know is a great option for teams.

Thanks and we look forward to serving you.

Regards,

GA Travel League (www.georgiatravelleague.com)
