Getting the attention of college recruiters is more a function of measurable statistics than it is the name of your travel team.
1. Can you run 60 yards in 6.5 seconds? 2. Does the ball leave the tee at 90 mph when you hit? 3. Does your fastball approach 90 mph?
If your son can check some of those boxes, then the name of the travel team or travel coach is not relevant. If he cannot approach those statistics, it is much, much harder to be noticed.
Don稚 believe it? Ask a college coach.
It makes more sense to join a team that plays in top tournaments at a reasonable price. Paying $3-4,000 to be on a 20+ man roster does not typically get your son noticed by a recruiter. Several Hobgood Braves had around 100 plate appearances in 16U summer ball. How does that stack up to your experience?

Hobgood Braves will hold an Open Tryout on July 26 and July 27 for rising 17U players. It is only necessary to attend one session. If these dates conflict for you, please contact us for a private workout.
July 26 (Friday) - 7:00PM - 9:00PM July 27 (Saturday) - 10:00AM - 12:00PM
Tryouts will take place at Hobgood Park on Field 9. All rising 17U players are invited to attend. We played mostly PG events at 16U and expect to do so again in 2019/2020.
The Braves have experienced, volunteer coaches. This helps our families play in the best local tournaments at a budget friendly price. For 16U season, our position players paid $1,000 each while pitchers-only paid just $600.00. Yes, those are real numbers, and we expect the budget to be in that zip code for 2019/2020. This is an economical way to get your son playing against the best competition in this area.
There is no fee for the tryout. Please forward questions to tad.goss@gmail.com.
