I'd have to put 643 above the drop off line. They are stacked...

As most of you know I am not much into rankings but I will say that I was disappointed in the way Georgia stacked up against the out of state teams as a whole although we did win some of the age groups. I truly believe that our talent base is much better but spread much thinner. I think the strategy being used by Florida and Alabama is to get as many elite star players from as many of their local travel teams (let's call this a travel team all stars type team). Georgia appears to feel that it better serves them to play with their regular travel teams and attempt to win with their players than win with someone else's players. Could you imagine what a 10U team would look like with the best of the Bandits, Sandtown, 643, Stixx, Stars, etc. or a 12U with the Astros, Chiefs, Shamrocks, Mills Creek, etc. Two different philosophies. Just my own opinion as I have no problem with either method but as for myself I am content at these ages to play with our friends, and classmates. |

Papa - I think the Bandits ARE a regional team like AL and FL put together. You guys just live closer together :) But I also agree about the GA baseball teams being spread thin. Personally, I like it that way. The best part about coaching is watching the boys AFTER practice. That's what it's all about. |

Coach Mark: I just wish there were more coaches that felt the way that you do. I appreciate the kind comments toward the Bandits and please don't feel that we will ever back down from the bigger teams. We have dusted our pants off and have begun to work with our pitchers on keeping the fast ball low and away and continue to work on making our hitting better. We plan on playing a little smarter next time and with a little more intensity. As good as they play baseball they are still 10 years old and one of the favorite things they do is swim after practice. We have even thought about challenging Mizuno Glory to a race in the pool. I promise Georgia that we will win this race. |

The thing about Georgia guys is we can play top tier teams every week and dont even have to leave our backyards!
If it had to be , I feel we could probably put together 3 or 4 of these teams just right here in the metro area.
But having said that , I think its better for our boys to consistantly play very good talent than to play a tuff game every now and then and take home a plastic trophy.
just my 2 cents. |
