Does anyone have any insight as to whether PG is pulling out of Lakepointe? It seems this has been a rumor the last few years but hasn't happened. It looks like PG moved the HS Showdown that has been played at Lakepointe to the Hoover Met (Birmingham,AL). Not sure if this is a tactic for negotiation with the group that now controls Lakepointe or sign that they are moving out. If they move out, does TC come in? There has been speculation that there will be shake ups at TC as well. Have heard there will be "Big Announcements" in November. Any insights? |

Much like Duke's on 92.9...I only talk about rumors once they are out there.
I heard the same thing from a friend yesterday. Has something to do with the BR restructuring and their contract with Lakepoint. Likely a negotiating point to redo their deal? I had a little conversation with a TC director at our tourney this past weekend and PG and TC get along and talk weekly. Plenty of meat on the bone for everyone.

I have heard that the only PG events being played at Lakepoint next summer are going to be the WWBA 16’s, 17’s and 18’s. Several HS teams across the state were originally scheduled to play the Georgia Dugout Club Tournament in Feb at Lakepoint as well. Whatever is going on has moved those games to local high schools across the city. |

I heard from several coaches tied to programs as well as one of the PG directors that PG may be out of Lakepoint for 2019. Rumor has it that PG is quickly snapping up all the HS fields, which leads me to believe that the youth tournaments at Lakepoint are done for a while.
It's probably a ploy to get a better contract, field space this season will definately be interesting, looks like Triple Crown will be the beneficiary of all of this. Lakepoint may be a ghost town in the spring.

While I can't disagree with almost everything you stated, I would have to think that your last statement may be a stretch... WAY too many tourney orgs that may be willing to dish out a pretty penny to rent those fields for the occasional weekend tourney. U-trip, GS, TL, or maybe even T/C. I get that PG doesn't want to pay the new premium, but I'd guess someone would be willing to... |

What I was told today. PG is no longer playingnoutnof LP other then the above mentioned tournies. PG events will be played at HS fields.
TC is no longer as well. Guy who ran TC tournies here now works for PG. With PG grabbing all the HS fields, good luck to whoever tries to run TC events. Will be tough to find fields available to play on. |

What we were told today is that PG is out of LP. Only events played at LP will be 15-17 WWBA events. All PG events will be played at HS facilities.
TC is no more as well. Guy who ran TC is now working for PG. Since PG has secured most local HS fields whoever tries to run TC will have a difficult time securing fields for their events.

Thanks for the thoughts. It is interesting that from all accounts PG had a PG friendly lease with Lakepoint. In that time they have grown their brand and the size of WWBA tournaments while hosting in Metro Atlanta. One could make the argument that the facility had a role in the growth. I have also heard that Lakepoint has broken ground on the additional 8 fields. I have to believe that it is negotiating tactics by both sides. To walk away from a great facility that will potentially have 16 fields that reduce weather risk dramatically seems short sighted. Especially if they relocate the tournaments to Ft Myers where you can count on weather delays every day. |

I don't think anyone truly knows what's going on with Lakepoint right now outside of PG and LP employees. It's all hear-say until an announcement's been made from either side. |

Somebody is going to get a state of the art facility at pennies on the dollar after the bankruptcy and re-negotiations are done.
Next year or so will be interesting on how it all goes down. Somebody is going to make a ton of money at the expense of bond holders.

The plot thickens. Tony V's TC site is no longer available (http://www.tcsoutheastbaseball.com/). Have heard that he will be state director for PG Georgia. I guess the announcements should be coming shortly. |

All as planned from the very beginning. Bankruptcy was designed from the get go. And the somebody you refer to also was designed at the same time.

Wonder if Lakepoint has enough money left in bank to take the PG logos off the turf ? LMAO. Don't get me wrong, cool place but over years I've gotten real tired of being nickeled and dimed to to death out there....if I want that I'll go to Braves game. As long as PG keeps DiamondKast and records the metrics I don't care where they hold the games but I'm glad to see this get back to ECB...hopefully the money will allow for some much needed upgrades. |

A couple 13U tournaments, but seem more geared to 14U and above and nothing until May, seems very HS oriented.
Southeast Super Select 3gg 895 Georgia State Games 4gg 1195
Seems a little steep to me, and will they still charge for parking and gate fees?
My thought, this is a High School Play and youth tournaments at lakepoint are dead for a while

NICE!!! Now the question is....what will PBR charge for games? PBR currently charges around $200 for a showcase, PG charges $700.
Will PBR pick up where PG left off, or are we about to see a week long tourney for only $1k?

Best I can tell, looks like prices are comparable. One big difference I noticed (if I am reading it correctly) is it appears that PBR tourneys will be by grad year instead of age. PG tourneys are either / or except in the fall. |

Its getting ridiculous. Just gonna drive the cost of kids playing ball up. Never thought of baseball as a country club sport. |

Not sure what PG means when they say they want to appeal to underserved communities, and those who "lack resources." Does this mean they are going to host tournaments in areas that don't have much in the way of facilities? Or that we will be footing the bill for the less advantaged with lesser facilities but the same prices we've been paying at LP? I hope it means prices will come down so it's more affordable for everyone. Not thrilled about having to travel to Iowa either to play in what will no doubt be where their big events will be held in the years to come. |

Like any business model, the market drives the prices. The Georgia market is huge for travel baseball and I don't think anyone would say that that will be changing in the near future, if anything, it will only be getting bigger. |
