I am hoping someone has some good advice how to handle this situation. The team we played on last fall still has my son's original birth certificate. I have tried to contact them many times and now they won't answer the phone or return emails.

They are one of the teams associated with one of the big academies. (the one that everyone loves)

Should I contact the head of the academy, something tells me he won't care.

Thanks for your help.

I would send another email asking very nicely to get the BC back, saying you will meet him any where any time, you just need it.

If that receives no reply I think I would just go get another one, and actually get multiple copies, I think they are like $10. $10 doesn't seem worth this aggravation.

With the issues of identity theft, I would continue to follow up with the request. Also, a lesson to be learned. Never hand over an original Birth Certificate. They only have to carry a copy of it, I have never been asked to provide an original except for school registration, and then they make a copy and hand back the original. Depending on wear your child was born, it can be a hassle to get another, so I'd start that process now as well.

The only time an original is needed is when you go to Cooperstown. Maybe not the only time, but the only time I've ever come across. Copies work otherwise.

Certified Copies from the Probate Judge's office is what will be considered as being acceptable in place of the original. Unfortunately they cost $25 each.
