12U HOPEWELL HAWKS TRYOUTS - COOPERSTOWN

Program Affiliations and Strengths
For the past year, Hopewell Youth Association has partnered with Howie McCann and Windward Baseball Academy, with WBA providing coaching support for travel, All-Star, and recreation teams and players. This allows our players access to top notch coaching and indoor facilities.
WBA instructors include:
- Howie McCann: Father of MLB player Brian McCann, owner and trainer
- Eric Gaylord: Experienced with IF/OF and overall field general.
- Jeff Troutt- 25 years of baseball professional training; hitting; Jeff has been successful training numerous of our Hawks age levels and has a very effective hitting instructor, amongst other disciplines.
In addition, this year’s 12u team will be led by Chris Mele of Hard Knocks Baseball Academy. Coach Mele is a former college catcher and pitcher and is the owner/operator of Hard Knocks since 2002 who began providing supplemental instruction to the 11u team in mid-May. He’s coached multiple travel teams to championships since 2003 and started the baseball and softball programs at Holy Redeemer Middle School in 2008, winning the baseball NAML Championship in 2009. Coach Mele does not have a son on the team and will be solely responsible for lineups, positions, playing time, etc. Coach Mele will be assisted during games and practices by experienced youth coaches that he selects.
The team’s program will include the following:
- Fall, Spring, and Summer Tournament schedule, including a trip to COOPERSTOWN
- A personal lesson package
- Professional coaching
- Amazing fields at Bell Memorial Park
- Indoor facilities
The 11u team finished the year strong, placing 2nd in the USSSA State Championship tournament and winning a championship at the USSSA Nashville World Series.

The 12u Hopewell Hawks are preparing to select the final player to join the roster for the 2017-2018 season. If you'd like to be considered, please contact Coach Chris Mele ASAP at info@hardknocksbaseball.com. The ideal player will have dynamic skills as a pitcher and/or shortstop and must be a resident of Milton or Alpharetta. Prior travel experience is preferred.
The 11u team finished the season strong, placing 2nd in the state tournament and winning a championship at the Nashville AA World Series. The team has added four very strong players and is looking forward to competing at the AA/AAA level during the upcoming season.
An on-field tryout is scheduled for Saturday, July 29th at Bell Memorial Park, Field 6 at 10:00 a.m.
