What a weekend of baseball for the Super NIT, lots of upsets, and probably 2 teams who werenít chosen to be the final ones left shocked everyone. Itís funny about all the hype of East Side Thunder, Yard Dogs, Bombers (Mentzer), Carl Black and so forth about being the best teams in 9u... they are very talented teams and great competitors but looks like there are some new teams that are gonna give everyone a run for their money like East Cobb Astros, where did they come from?! Itís gonna be an interesting year. Top 10 based off results from weekend that I spectated after my son losing early on Sunday.

1) Force Baseball Academy
2) East Cobb Astros
3) Next Lvl Red
4) Carl Black Longhorns
5) All American Arsenal
6) Georgia Bombers (Metzner)
7) Meridian Panthers
8) Covington Copperheads
9) Gresham Park Yard Dogs
10) East Side Thunder.

I hope those teams that have been asked to represent GA in GA/FL showdown come prepared cause Force and Astros sent home 2 very talented out of state teams in the Final 4 of the Super NIT. Best of luck to everyone this year.

You certainly left a handful of teams off of your list. Ranking teams this early is a little crazy in my opinion considering some teams are seeing the field for the first few times.
Cobb Rawlings is as good as any team on your list. They lost to the Force by 1 run. East Side lost two games by 1 run to Cobb Rawlings & SBA. I can assure you East Side will battle week in and week out.
My team the Kennesaw Generals, played great on Saturday, winning our pool beating two solid teams, the GA Monarch & the Naturals. I tried to save some pitching Sunday since all teams had to win 4 games & it bit me in the ass. Will not happen again that I can promise. That was our first full tournament of the year. We got rained out the weekend before in a 10u tournament, after going 1-1 in pool. Not making any excuses, but any of the top 8-10 Major teams can win any weekend. If Mentzner's team is #6, I can fly jets. No doubt he's got one of the most talented teams in Georgia.

fastball4you... I like the flying jets comment! lol.
Sorry we couldnít beat a 5í 8 lefty throwing 63+ to get to you yesterday but was looking forward to another battle. Saw you didnít get through either so didnít feel so bad but weíll both be fine.

Yes a lot of GAís top teams could win any weekend, but I think some teams arenít the same as they were in 8u. For instance my sons team was over matched, much more realistic being AAA than major but great experience for our kids.

ďOpinions are like a..holes, everyone has oneĒ

But you have to give credit where itís desrveed, Force and Astros beat the state of North Carolinaís best, Park Sharon was the real deal, you can ask anyone. And SBA had a grown man pitching against Meridian. Iím basing everything off performances. Yes Mentzer has a very talented team, but is he worthy of Elite 32 by winning an NIT with all AA teams in it. IMO not at all he trophy hunted for the easiest bid. Force went out and busted their tales to be champs, and East Cobb upset many teams that werenít expecting to lose. Give credit where itís desrved and stop being butthurt, bc you didnít make it.

holy cow!!! Dang I feel honored to be ranked #2 by some random dad, but we arenít that good by any means. We just put things together Sunday against great teams and came up short. I was proud of my players fighting through Sundayís battles cause four games in one day for 9u isnít realistic, itís absurd.. Truthfully, any of the 9u teams I saw this weekend could win it all. Thereís plenty of talent out there. Looking forward to seeing everyoneís progress throughout the year. Congrats to Force Baseball Academy, yíall earned it!

Congrats to Force for a great tournament. Congrats as well to East Cobb for a nice runner-up.

Probably a little early to start ranking teams based on one tourney and forgo all teams complete body of work from fall and previous spring tourneys. Good news is there are a number of teams at this age group that can put a good team on the field and compete. Foolish of anyone to think that one team will dominate week in and week out...just look at past tourney and all the back and forth scores. It's gonna come down to who's hot on any given weekend and who you have to go through.

If we are making cases for our individual team...we (GA Bombers) played like crap and still went 2-0 in pool play and won in first round. Knocked out in quarters by the eventual champs who put probably the best pitcher in the tourney on the mound for 4 innings. We play better defense and who knows, but we didn't and Force is a dang good team! We have def been hyped and if I came to see us this weekend, I would've rolled my eyes. Not the product I expect from my guys.

I'm just glad to see the out of town teams sent home! That's always nice!

Look forward to seeing all these 9U Major teams again down the line.

In my previous post, I failed to congratulate the Force & EC! Congrats on a great tournament to you both! As for you realbaseball12, I was never ďbutt hurtĒ because I didnít do well Sunday. I know how good these teams are from experience of playing them, not one weekend of watching a tournament. Like I said above, most teams are just starting to play again. If you think these team are in mid season form, well you need to stick to watching from the stands. @Mentzer, I didnít get a chance to roll my eyes at you since you were playing at a different park:)
Good luck everyone moving forward, I look forward to the competition.

Congrats to Force and ECB -- winning 3-4 games on a Sunday against this field is strong!

From the standpoint of the East Side Thunder, last weekend couldn't have been scripted any better. Our coaches and kids were able to see what needs to be done to improve, although we only played three games, we were able to pitch 8 of 10 kids, we don't sub so everyone had a chance to play, and our families were able to realize that if we run into a DB coach that wants to throw a kid 97 pitches against us in Bracket Play, we'll probably lose some of those games. All in all a great weekend -- we'll be better for it. AND -- maybe that #10 ranking might allow some of you to save your aces for your next opponent! We are looking forward to seeing many of these teams again this weekend in the TL event.

I agree about some of these DB coaches....it's not always about the wins & loses or you trying to relive your glory days. In our bracket game vs All-American Arsenals in the last inning, we were down by 2 runs. Their coach decided to make 5 mound visits & change pitchers 3x to waste 12 mins so we didn't have time to play another inning. I get really annoyed by "bush league" coaches that try teach kids the wrong way to play this game. Never been a believer in baseball & time limits. I would rather play 4 innings and let the games play out.

Would love to have some of the better 9u teams at the TbS National event in June. Right now, we only have the Bombers and Meridian Panthers from Georgia going up against some great Major teams from across the country such as MVP(CA), NTX Eagles(TX), Puerto Rico, Sandcrabs (TX), Hitdogs (MI), Blacksox (VA) and many more. Not only challenge yourself in Georgia, see what you can do against the rest of the country!!!!

@RealBaseball12 My team ďtrophy huntedĒ for Elite 32 bid? Huh, pretty sure we stayed in the same hotel with a couple 10U East Cobb teams trying to earn their bid as well!...and we got ours! Not sure which team your son is on but I guess according to your post that they are more a AAA team, feel free to keep up with us this July while we are down in FL. Earning a bid is no small task and we were fortunate (and smart enough) to take care of it this fall and not rely on only two opportunities to earn it here in GA with all the talented teams in the age group!

Pretty sure my team, Georgia Bombers not Mentzer btw, has played in only two 9U tourneys dating back to Fall. Super NIT in SC and Super NIT last weekend. We have played 10U AAA/low Majors for the most part...hardly trophy hunting.

@camentz Iím sorry if I offended you and your team, but all big programs IMO trophy hunt time to time. Gamers, East Cobb, Five Star, East Side, 643, truthfully any big organization. they all do it in their favors. I wish my sons team was good enough to compete at Elite 32 but that ainít the case. We are fortunate enough not be blasted all weekend, but I know against any AA or AAA team we could win it all. It was poor choice for our coach putting us in Major, but hopefully he learns but probably not.
