Bombers beat Game On Vipers by more than they lost to them by. DR was off this weekend, they looked bad all weekend. Should be a different ranking then listed.

And had a lead on 643 late and lost on a walk off. You'd think you'd put the Cougars as a close 2nd

Sorry fellas! I couldn't resist having a little laugh over "rankings" since a few of the top teams had an off weekend. Please go back to your regularly scheduled debates on who the best teams are.

Being new to the forum, when you guys submit your lists for 13u, are you talking 54-80 or 60-90? Enjoy the banter on here, just curious.

tough to choose this year since so many played up at 14u. Astros and Team Elite played up most of the year. Bombers and DR Red were probably the two top that stayed in the 13u group.

astros and team elite did play 13u this weekend at PG and both are in the brackets with the cougars from 643.

what dimensions are the teams you mentioned playing at labaseball2022? I get confused on dimensions sometimes. Shouldn't 13 year olds be playing 60-90 not 54-80 or is that the standard?

IMO playing 54/80 is a waste of time at 13. Should be playing 60/90 to get the kids ready for high school. Pitchers need to learn to throw strikes form 60 feet and hitters need to learn that those 250' fhome runs are in reality lazy fly balls on a high school field.

TOTALLY disagree 54/80 is a waste of time. My kid played 54/80 and then a few 60/90 tourneys at the end of the season and did just fine with the longer distances. Most 13u games were played on high school sized fields. (12u plays on the 250' fields, not 13u). Smallest field 13u played on was 300 but more often it was 350. Longer distance definitely helped out the contact pitchers as last year's homers were this year's fly balls.

What really needs to happen is the age cutoff date needs to get moved back to Aug 1, or whatever the date is that the schools use.

13u's pitching at 60/90 is useless. Not all 13u kids can handle it. The ones that have been through puberty (i.e. the Majors teams) can handle it form time to time, but these kids bodies are still developing. Let them develop at their pace. Put the age cutoff back to where 95% of 13u kids are rising 8th graders and play 54/80.

Not to mention, any good high school program will be able to look at a kid and see that he is a good ball player, regardless if he has played at 60/90 before or not.

Most high AAA and Majors teams need to be playing 60/90. The AA/lower AAA need to be 54/80. I seen alot of teams that have no business play 54/80. If you have kids throwing low to mid 70s 54 should not be a option.

Uncle Charlie: From what I can tell Astros and Team Elite have been playing 60/90 14u tourneys with BBCOR bats. This past weekend was PG so it was a 13U tourney at 60/90. Both of those teams were in the championship with the Astros coming out on top.

Wasnt trying to start an argument on whether 54/80 or 60/90 was better or worse, just making the statement that it is hard to "Rank" all of these teams at 13 since they were playing on different levels/fields/etc all year.

Astro's are still the top team in 13u in GA in my opinion. Had they played 13u all season(doesnt matter distances) they would have won a large percentage of their games.

I have to agree with Dawgs15. A good part of the teams should be playing 60/90. I know my son's team liked the move up and even played in some 14u using bbcors. It was a wake up call for some kids exposing bad swings, but kids learned to adjust. The main downfall were the 14 yr old kids were turning 15 and size and strength was the big difference, especially if making it deeper into bracket play. Maybe 54/80 should be cut out all together for the 13s.

265' ft fences for 13U is ridiculously short. Balls fly out of those fields faster and more frequently than the 200' ft fences at Cooperstown. It's my humble observation that teams have been successful on shorter fences and reality sets in when the fences are "regulation" and those "can of corn" fly ball HRs turn into outs, even with -5 bats. The additional distance on the base paths and the pitching mound makes a big difference as well for defenses and base running. So, to properly "rank" teams, you'd have to go back and look at the winning percentages of teams playing on shorter dimensions versus those of teams playing on 60/90 with "regulation" fences. That's just one reason why "ranking" 13U teams is a waste of time other than the pure joy of speculation and fun.

Agree with Midgabball. I feel that to be considered a top team you have to at least get into the larger talent tournaments like perfect game, prospect wire, travel ball select, CABA, etc. and play 60 - 90 for 13u.

They should be considered a top AAA team since they won the TC event. The major players were all playing PG event at Lakepoint
