Are there any good AAA/AA teams or is 15U the cutoff year? My son is a step below major but loves to play. He has decided, and I support his decision, to keep playing three sports. I know that he will need to focus on one sport soon to get himself good enough to play on a major team but not yet.

I would like to start watching some AAA/AA teams this year to meet the families and observe the teams.

Thanks for any help.

Team Elite and East Cobb both have MULTIPLE 15u teams. They can't all be major level. Depending where you live you may want to go see some of those games. A word of caution though...just because the 15u team exists doesn't mean a 16u team will exist. Teams break up all the time.

Don't let anyone ever tell you that you've got to specialize in one sport, countless big league players and coaches preach the value of being multiple sport athletes.

Play all three sports, learn from all three and develop a well rounded athlete

The major change at 15U is most all of the tournaments, primarily Perfect Game and Triple Crown, are open tournaments. That means a AAA team is going to be matched up with Major Teams which include kids playing down

Play down? What, as in play with kids their own age?

Play down means you pick your age or grade. I have seen 18 year olds playing 16u if grad year fits

Well that's stupid for that big of an age difference... my son is playing up finally this year. 15U, but playing 16U which equals his grade average! Playing 16U as a 18U makes no sense to me... what am I missing here?

The way PG does their tournies is by saying 17u is "2018 graduate or younger or born on or after 5/1/1999"

So if you held a kid back one or two times they could be 19 and a 2018 graduate and eligible to play in the 17u tourney. In theory they will be bigger and stronger than their 2018 counterparts and will therefore get the scholarship first. Colleges are looking to see who can help them now, it may very well work.

I know kids that are rising seniors that will graduate in 2018 that on PG it says 2019? What is up with that? Reclassified but incorrect information, does that mean they can play down just because they have a different graduation year even if on schedule to graduate?
