What funny things have your friends and family said about travel ball? My best friend just texted me and said "Have you heard of the tournament for baseball called Perfect Game?"

WOW, that was really broken English right there, and yeah I may have heard of them, LOL! It got worse, she said "there is a visiting executive that has a son who plays FOR Perfect game". She topped that off with a string of non-sense about where MY kid played....oh my, I guess we need to talk more about baseball.

What have your friends and family said about baseball/travel ball that made you just scratch your head and go "Wow, so much wrong with that statement".

Single biggest coaching pet peeve. "Work through it" 14U and up. Below that watch the team sink with the ship. When they're off they're off. The more they walk the more they panic, the worse it gets. Get someone else out there! Kid wants off, parents want him off, teammates him want off. Followed only by following up the fast ball down the middle guy with the next best fast ball down the middle guy. Switch it up!

I've been that parent myself! If the kid doesn't have it then he doesn't have it that day, I agree, get him out of there! No reason to have to work through it in youth ball.

i got this one from a parent today:

I think my kid is going to be 6'5" cause he is the tallest kid on his 10u team. Dad is 5'7" and mom is 5'3" both with overhangs and heavy.

My favorite is:
"The fastest pitcher on my team throws 90."
*The team has never played any thing but grandslam 12u

Congrats to our 13U Team Moneymaker (Elite)* on a gritty runner-up finish** in the Braggin' Rights Classic! #FutureD1ers #SoElite #DraftEmAll #AlmostTOOElite

* Elite?! How about "Blue"? Or "Red" -- or "Jackson" or "Turner" or something more accurate (and less ironic)?
** Runner-up ... in Division 3 ... out of 3 ... the lowest division offered ... a demoralizing, sloppy, blowout loss ... to a very so-so team.

If they rub it hard and long enough it will shine like gold.

How about these:

It's all about development, but we only put up 2 points per tournament and sometimes score 0 points. We are going to have 2 teams next year.

Coach said we don't play wood bat tournaments because of splinters.

Potential is there, hold on to your seat, we are going to be one of the best teams out there when we "jell".

Not in the Beginning of June.

Forget the paid travel assistant, how about a paid High School Head Coach that goes on vacation for 1/3rd of the seasons games. But its ok cause he held 'Prostyle' practices and the boys 'Prostyle' coached themselves during games. Whatever that means.

Prostyle........

We really only recruit RHP's who have hit 90 by end of their Junior year...............Our record?? Oh we had an off year, 6-44 with a team ERA of 7.38

Wow did you see that 92 on the PG scoreboard? And the daily leader article from yesterday?.........No no I must have been looking at the batter ball/strike count on the $40 Diamondkast and wondering if the inning would stay under 30 pitches or should I get some $3 water and plan on 40 pitches.

Lot of people be far better off if they knew less about PG and travel baseball.

There are so many, but one of my favorites is the selling point certain coaches give the parents about other players on the team.
Example would be: On our 13U team, we have 5 kids throwing in the mid 80's all who are 6'3", weigh 240 lbs and absolutely "mash" the ball. LOL!!!

5. I think my kid is going pro. He is playing 11u.

LOL @ 4. They got connections with Vandy.
You won't understand this unless you read the other posts daily.

1.) Little Johnny went to a showcase at PG for 8th graders. It only cost $649. He threw 68! and ran 8.2! BigU was there scouting him.

2.) I'm getting 100% scholarship.....

3.) 2 way recruit.....

4.) What do you mean D2 and D3 is recruiting 70, 80, 120 or so players for their team? JV in college, ha no way? Big Johnny had a personal signing day at his High School. They want him, promised a chance to start.

5.) The radar gun says.............

6.) PG must be really interested they me sent a personal email invite to their showcase........saying I was approved to register.....
6.A-b2.) Substitute obscure XYZ University Prospect camp in place of PG
6.B-c4.) How'd they get my email?

7.) Bat Shaving and heat rolling isn't illegal per rules. Ever see the inside of a BBCOR bat? Looks kinda cool after things are removed. Why does my dang endcap keep flying off? And the barrel cracks every other month?

8.) I play for the National Purple Prospects - Scout Team - North.

9.) How much did you pay for 10U this year? $4,000 plus uniforms......

10.) Ah but the priceless memories......don't you understand.....

Bonus:) I made the AllStar/All State/All Clown team on my own......Daddy being the coach and selector had nothing to do with it.......Just ask my momma!

And the list of delusions goes on and on and on. Ya'll sit down and talk about it over some $5 parking and $60 passes and $3 waters this summer.
