If you were given full responsibility for planning the 2009 tournament schedule for your team, what tournaments would you say are must dos? I am looking for tournaments that would have brackets at the 10U AAA/Major level. Let's say that you have to limit it to 6-8 tournaments with no more than 2 out of the state of GA. I would be curious as to why you choose them as well (good facilities, well run, good competition, etc.). Any feedback is appreciated!

beanball,

I completely agree with your assessment of the Slugfest's weather problems. For whatever reason, Mother Nature has not been to kind to that tournament the last several years and because of this many teams are deciding not to play in it. I personally think that it is one of the premier tournaments in the area, but I don't think you'll see the same turn out this years as in past years. The age group I see being hit the hardest is the 12U as many teams are struggling with the cost of going to Cooperstown in a down economy.

BEANBALL don't really know where that came from, and it sure didn't answer the question lol....but anyways...That tournament wouldn't need teams from out of state to make it a good one!!!!! There is more than enough talent here in GA that it would still be a good one ...Now all we would need would be good weather..

I would suspect that you won't see as many out of town teams at this year's Forsyth Slugfest. With the weather problems at this tournament the last three years teams will not want to commit. They should rename to the frost-fest.

TRIPLE CROWN'S SPRING FROST @ EAST COBB

FORSYTH COUNTY SLUGFEST

2009 BORDER WAR

USSSA SUPER NIT MAJORS Atlanta

Nancy Hayes Memorial Tournament

The rest I would have to wait to see who was in it..The USTBA State last year had a good draw, so did BPA..Most any SUPER NIT will draw, the problem with them is if teams REALLY want to know how good they are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slugfest and Border Wars would be my TOP to for MARCH!!!!!!!! GOOD COMP and PLENTY of it!!!!!!!!!

In no particular order for 10U Major:

1) Typically the AAU State and Triple Crown State are the same weekend, so I would pick one. We have played in both over the past 2 years and I like both. (June)

2) USSSA State (June)

3) Border War (March 13-15)

4) SF Slugfest (March 6-8)

5) USSSA Super NIT (March 20-22)

6-8 I would pick some local tournaments that seem to have good competition.

I am a little biased. However, I think the Forsyth County Slugfest is the best of the best. We are two months out and almost 100 teams have already registered. If you visit the tournament website you will see why. http://eteamz.active.com/wareagleslugfest/index.cfm?
