If a coach recruits or attempts to recruit a player from another team by offering him a "free ride", what are the other parents that have paid their way on that team supposed to think? Is it usually a secret? Seems like that would create more drama than the value of the new player would be worth.

Couldn't that damage a kid's amateur status? I'd hate to see thise 10 year old hot college prospects lose their eligibility!

:-D

There are professional coaches who are paid to coach teams. Most dont even have a kid on the team. Its not common, but it does exist.

We had a team offer to pay the way for two of our kids and the parents had all agreed to it ahead of time. It was flattering but not something I would consider doing. Not that we wouldn't play for that team, it's just not fair to the rest of the parents to pay for my son to play, even if they agree to it.
