Posted - 02/26/2009 : 20:46:49 "mudders" is a horse racing term...sorry. I was a horse track rat in college. When the winning horses' owner didn't show up in the winners circle, my roommate and I would stand in to have our pic taken with the roses around our shoulders. We'd cover our dorm room walls with all those pictures then tell the co-eds our Dads were filthy rich. Not sure what this has to do w/ baseball, but it helped us score lots of runs.

Posted - 02/26/2009 : 13:40:25 They do not favor teams that hit the ball on the ground a lot. They don't favor teams that use speed and bunting. They also don't favor teams that rely on good defense en lieu of power hitting.
I actually think it favors teams that are weaker on defense but strong on power hitting. A HR goes out just as easy in the mud as it does in the dry. If you were iffy on making a play with it dry, does it really reduce your chances significantly when it's muddy?
It is definately the great equalizer.
(At first I thought you meant Mudders like "Mudders and Fadders".) |
