When you are paying as much as we are to play in a tournament, you would expect that the field dimensions would be set properly. I just don't know what I should do when I know they are not correct. |

Posted - 03/16/2009 : 09:16:28 I have seen some rules say that base paths can be either 65 or 60 for 9 and 10U tournaments, due to the fact some hs softball fields are used and their bases are usually set at 60 feet. |

Posted - 03/14/2009 : 18:35:35 Depends on whether you are referring to a portable pitchers mound being too close or too far, or the bases being in the wrong plug (in 70' plug but should be in the 80' plug) vs a permanent mound or base plug being a few inches off. If you are talking about something that can be checked and adjusted quickly, then it should be brought up to the umpire prior to gametime. If you mean an issue with the permenant pitchers rubber or base plugs, then really telling the director so they can pass the info on to the park is all you can do.
If a 13U game has a pitchers rubber 55' away rather than 54', as long as both teams are using the mound it is still a fair game. |

In the Border Wars that must not be sanctioned I heard that there was no pitching rules just up to the Coach's discretion. I would say if you know something is wrong bring it to the attention of the tournament director. |
