If you Google USSSA rules, the first hit will be a pdf of the 2009 rules. It appears to me that other than a 20 player limit, that there are not many roster restrictions until a team qualifies for the World Series. Then, all kinds of regs kick in. Up until a team qualifies, USSSA is not nearly as restrictive as BPA. Afterwards, USSSA and BPA seem quite similar. Perhaps BPA was seen as overly restrictive, and explains why USSSA has seen greater success.

I suppose none of ths is news to Coaches and parents of older players.

I do know when you win a Super NIT your roster with USSSA is frozen from that piont on . Then you are allowed three pick-ups after that qualifying tournament.
