My team is attending the 13yr old Super NIT in Mississippi this May and Terror Baseball is going to be there. They were in Cooperstown last year the same week we were and I saw them up close. (they made it to the championship game and got drilled by a Florida team with rental players, we haven't touched this subject yet). Do they have any weaknesses? Do you have a scouting report? Were they one of the teams that picked up players for the tournament? If they were, they learned it from their Cooperstown experience. While watching the championship game, We were sitting next to the pitcher's dad on the Florida team and he told us that this was his son's fourth trip to Cooperstown that year for Four different teams. He had to be throwing around 80 mph. Thanks for the help.

baseball papa,
Yes, Terror Baseball should be commended for winning it with their players.

As for the teams that borrow players, it is just a different mindset. They typically look at it as either "We need to qualify for this, then get our team ready." or "The main thing is to win it. Let's pickup whatever players we need to fill our gaps."

It seems to be more regionalized. Once someone from an area does it, other teams feel the need to do it as well, to keep up.

For instance last year, we played one of the teams from Miami, down in Jacksonville. My son pitched against them and before we could get in the car after the game, two of the coaches approached us wanting him to go to Cooperstown with them. I had no problem with them asking, but we were already going with our own team and felt good about the team we were taking. Especially because it was "OUR" team.

I guess the more competition for players teams have, the more important it is perceived to win the big stuff to get your name out there. I guess the hope is, at some point your team will be the desired team to play on and they won't have to borrow from other teams. I don't know. I like our format here in GA.

I did understand the Glory coach's explanation about his kids being on multiple rosters and have no problem with that. It sounds like they are a little bit of a victim of how USSSA manages players assignments to rosters.

Glad they won it with their players as that is the way it should be done. What I don't understand is that most of these teams already have good to great players so why do they feel the need to borrow stars from other teams. I guess I might be too old to understand how you could feel good by winning with someone else's players. It's almost like you are admitting that your team is not good enough or has not been prepared or coached well enough to win.

they have 10 kids on their team. Top to bottom I havent seen a team that hit like that. 1-10 can put the ball over the fence. Extremely agressive. Big and fast. If there is a weakness I didnt see it. I spoke to a father and he said they like fast pitching. So if you have a good pitcher with lots of movement that may work. But they dont swing at bad pitches. They hit to the opposite field better than anyone I have seen.

They won the Atlanta Super NIT, so you may not see them in the MS Super NIT unless they just want to come up there and play.

They won it with their players.
