Posted - 03/26/2009 : 18:09:57 Some coaches are looking for a way to make themselves feel better. You are so misinformed it is not even funny. The Glory 10's did not borrow a player from the San Diego Stars. In order to see this all you have to do is go to www.USSSA.com click on rankings then 10u Major and you will see the Mizuno's Glory at number one. Click on the team name and then roster history. First you will see many of the kids have only played with the Glory all season, some have played on the 11u team in the fall. The two kids you are speaking of "From California" are on the roster. First the kid who played with the Stars was clearly added on July 20, 2008 at 7:42PM as the San Diego Stars borrowed him for the Elite 24, not the other way around. Second, the other boy moved from California to Florida. He played up a lot in California and it appears he has a history of playing with a lot of teams. Should a coach tell him he can't play because he is not from his town or park? This is travel ball. My son plays on the 11u Glory and Mr. Robison runs a great program. My son loves playing for him. He works with the kids better than anyone my son has ever played for. He instills discipline and a work ethic, he actually teaches the game of baseball to the kids. He drives six hours round trip every Tuesday from Jacksonville to Tampa to work with these kids, and he does not get paid. Does he pick up a player from time to time, yes? So does 80-90 percent of teams out there. The way I look at it if my son gets bumped because someone better came in, he needs to work harder. That is life. You guys are talking about people checking their ego that is what you need to do. You Georgia teams are looking for why you lost. Florida came into Georgia and took back several championships from a top Georgia tournament. This happened for several reasons. We play year round. My son since August has played in over 20 tournaments. We practice 4-5 times a week. He loves to play, he works hard and he plays a lot. You guys have some good teams in Georgia but we are already in mid season form. Go Glory!!

Posted - 04/01/2009 : 01:51:29 I agree we have a big advantage do to the fact that we play year round. Also, many kids will pick up with a team just for one weekend if there regular team is not playing just to play. Does not necessarily mean the team is "loading up". Also, all of that stops with USSSA on April 1 when the roster freeze. I really enjoyed playing in Georgia, it was a great atmosphere. You guys have some really good teams. Looking forward to seeing how the Southern Jags 11u do this weekend in Tampa.

Georgia and this may be due to the fact that we don't play year round chooses to build their travel teams from more of a local area and according to the Mizuno roster you choose to build your team from at least state wide and sometimes multiple states. We take what we have and coach and teach them the same way you do. You should have the better team due to the number of boys you choose from by working the larger area. We choose to play the way we do because our entire team can swim after practice as it only takes 10 minutes to get our team to practice not 6 hours. Our players go to school together, to the movies, and spend the night with each other and this is what we choose and we love it. There is absoulutely nothing wrong with your way, its just not what we choose. You have an awesome team and have every right to be proud of them. They are some of the best baseball players we have ever played and we enjoyed every single inning on the field with them.
A lot of the misconceptions you speak of did not come from Georgia as most of what has been repeated was what was published with the #7 ranking you received and this did not come from Georgia.
Can you explain the player on your roster that is also listed on the Beaver Valley Red roster that is ranked #3. Does Mizuno plan on freezing him to their roster and to use him at Disney. It should be easy for you to see why we are confused when you look at a roster that the same player is listed on as many as 6 teams rosters. Are you loaning this player or borrowing this player.
Maybe its time to create another division and call it anything goes that would put an end to what is legal with the rosters.
Please understand that we have the greatest amount of respect for your kids as them kids can play some ball. I apologize for the misunderstandings but I think now you can see how it happened.

Posted - 03/30/2009 : 21:44:14 FLBASEBALLFAN: Please disregard my last post as I was emailed the information and was told that the Beaver Valley Red Player is not shown on your current roster so therefore is not frozen for the Disney tournament. Again I don't feel that this would be much of an issue if USSSA would do a better job of policing an keeping the rosters current. Good luck to you and your team the rest of this season. |
