Posted - 03/27/2009 : 08:30:55 On this rainy weekend. What is the opinions of tournaments changing formats due to weather. Should the fees stay the same. Should there be a discount/partial refund if you are not getting the original guaranteed games? Just a timely topic with the weather. |

Posted - 03/27/2009 : 09:12:08 If someone had an indoor ballfield they would be full one weekends like this!!!!!! I think if you don't get any games in, you should get you money back in FULL.. How you charge for the rest is based on games played vs money per game.. |

Posted - 03/27/2009 : 08:59:29 Most all tournaments have rainout policies of no refunds if 2 games or more were played. This is mainly because there comes a certain point in time they have costs incurred that have to be paid (trophies, field rental, etc).
To your question, if a tournament has been originally formatted that it will be a 3 pool games, then elimination play for all teams, but changed to 2 pool games and half the teams go to elimination play because the FRI night and Sat morning games look to get rained out, then at least the director is trying to think through it early and let teams adjust. I would rather have it change up front, to something that can be managed, than have it constantly change throughout the weekend. No one wants to keep stringing teams and families along while the game times/schedule get changed to accommodate the weather.
It is an interesting topic.
