Posted - 12/30/2009 : 16:18:30 is this and does it guarantee placement for a team?..There is a team(SC) that claims to have a certificate, which they well might, BUT they said they can pick what week they want? That does not sound correct, I'm not even sure this guarantees this team having a spot in cooperstown? If anyone knows about how this certificate thing works, enlighten me, thanks. |

Posted - 10/14/2014 : 10:20:01 A 2015 certificate is what WAS needed but they clearly stated on them that they must be submitted by 9/15/14 to be valid. I don't want someone going out and buying a certificate that is no longer valid. I believe at this point a team would have to find someone who submitted the certificate and has a week assigned and then gets Cooperstown to replace the currently assigned team with the team purchasing their spot. I would definitely recommend calling one of the guys in baseball operations at CDP before you spend any money trying to get a spot to confirm it will work. |

Posted - 10/14/2014 : 02:35:07 A 2015 certificate is exactly what you need if you plan to go next summer. We have one, submitted our top three preferred weeks (which were all in July), and were assigned the second week in June. I think they may have tried to honor these requests in years past, but they can't have southern teams taking a bunch of spots in July when the northern and Midwest kids are in school most of the month of June. They have to fill the weeks in June, and that has to be done largely with teams from Georgia, Florida, the Carolinas, Alabama, Louisiana, etc. where they know the kids finish the school year around Memorial Day. |

If the 12U team from you park attended last year talk to that coach and he should be able to help you.
Well, by now they would have had to submit their application and at least 2 installments to guarantee their grandfathered spot. If they haven't done that at this point, the grandfather benefits are gone.
Unless it's changed from 2 years ago. |

Posted - 12/30/2009 : 22:15:36 If they pay a certain amount by a certain date, it was 9/15/07 for the summer of 2008, they are guaranteed a spot. They may not be guaranteed their first choice of weeks, but everyone that I've known that had a grandfather certificate did get their first choice.
If you don't pay the installments, the second one was in November, you become just like everyone else. |

Posted - 12/30/2009 : 20:42:10 Grandfather Certificate means you have a spot for a week at Cooperstown Dreams Park... It does not define what week you will attend. Even though you have a grandfather certificate, you still have to complete and submit your application in time. In the application, you submit your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice for the week you want to attend. |
