Posted - 03/04/2013 : 17:00:56 Now that the scrimmages are over and some Ga teams are back from their weekend spring training down in Florida, what did we learn from the first major tournament of the year?
The first thing I learned was that good judgement, parenting, and plain old common sense goes out the window when travel ball competition is at stake. If you showed up to any of the games and were wrapped in two blankets while wearing a ski suit or hunting coveralls you know what I mean. I hope next time parents and coaches think about the freezing kids and not the good competition.
Lastly, I learned that even though the weather was different and the year is different the results are basically the same. The final game saw the usual suspects from last year. And in my opinion, there were only 5 teams that had enough tournament pitching to win. And those were the last teams standing on Sunday. Which happened to be basically the same top teams from last year. Though anyone can win/ tie a pool play game very few teams in this age group are built to win tournaments.
I'm gone..and finally thawed out |
