Ladies, please forgive me for intruding on your forum but I wanted to pass along some information that you might find useful. My older son plays for the Bandits and my wife is in charge music for our team. She uses something called a "Blockrocker" by Ion. They were recently selling them at Sams Club for $129. It's portable, battery operated and recharges quickly. It also has great sound quality. She uses her Ipod, MP3 player or Iphone to play the music. She is also able to record "walkup" versions of the boys favorite tune. The walkup version is only 20 or 30 seconds of their favorite part of the song. Send me an email if you guys want some more information and I can put you in touch with my wife, the music lady.

Best of luck to your team this year.

Ditto what bars said. We do have quite a few moms that love baseball!

Gwinnett, yes the boys pick their own songs (tip: make sure you listen to the entire clean version before you play @ a game-OOPS!)We use a portable Bosc CD player and all the songs are burned to one CD.

rippit, you have to share the load. We have one mom who brings the music, one who keeps the book, one who brings the dugout cooler, two who take pics, two who have everything and anything the boys need in their bag! And we can all interchange to some extent......and most of us are baseball fanatics and definite control freaks.
But we love our kids and make it work!
Oh and you also have to be able to give play by play updates to any mom who has to miss due to playing taxi to siblings...........

Gamers Black Moms!

I'm putting something new on my list for Santa: just ONE other mom from my kid's team who would help me be the "instigator" and do some music!! Or do anything besides put on sunscreen and talk on their phone.

As it is, I already look like a pack mule at every tournament. Not sure I have room to carry the boom box, but definitely have the tunage to go in it...

Question for bars..& moms...--do you let the boys pick the song that's played before they bat? Do you use an IPOD with speakers at the games? We're going to use your idea because it's soooo cool...lol I'll get some other parents involved to take care of the music.... What other ideas do you cool moms have? Oh, almost forgot, I love your team internet site too!
mom4baseball Posted - 12/19/2010 : 22:50:27
I had to jump in and give my 2 cents! I LOVE baseball and unless I am too sick to drive I will be there.
Also, I agree, don't chit chat with me and then ask me what's going on the field!
I keep the books for the team and I know the rules. Just because I'm a mom don't think I am there to sun bathe!!!
Also, a Gamers black mom!
barsred98 Posted - 12/19/2010 : 21:33:21
Gwinnett, yep I am a Gamers Black mom and thanks for the compliment.......we love our baseball and try to do our part in keeping the team pumped up.....some people dont appreciate our music but it is only designed for our kids benefit....not to be disrespectful. We have found that it helps keep the boys relaxed....which helps them play better and ultimately have more fun......which is the goal....right?

We can get a little loud too...........good competitive baseball is exciting!!!!!!!!!!

barsred98, are you the group of moms that have sons on the Elite Gamers Black? If you are, you sure are a great group of moms. We played your team recently in Acworth. I love how you play the music before each player bats. I really want to do the same for our team but I can't be in the dugout and do the music at the same time. That was a tough kid that got hit in the eye! Glad to hear he's OK. You ladies looked like a tight knit family team. A lot of families could learn alot from ya.

How funny! I hear you on the blah blah blah!!!

Sometimes I have to go sit on the opposing team's side where nobody knows me.

Another thing that bugs me is nearly every parent asking me every little thing about the park, the tournament, the other team etc. and so forth. I figured it all out, why can't you?

It gets exhausting doesn't it?
