Prep Baseball Report (PBR) will be hosting tournaments at LakePoint Park in Emerson. The youth schedule was released today.

They will be working with Travelball Select and Rick Goff for the youth tournaments.

Also, I believe there are looking into temporary fencing to be used for youth tournaments.

At the end of the day, it's not going to be the same like it was at LP with PG. The only thing that will change this is some new facility being built with turf fields. Can this happen in the future? Sure it can. Will it happen? Who knows, time will tell.

The other factor will be some teams will play a few out of state tournaments with PG. Otherwise, we are all going to have to sit back and grin and bare it. All our players and teams will have to go back to playing all games on dirt again where ever they schedule us during these upcoming tournaments.

Obviously, if PBR and LP click and become a factor, then I'm sure you will see many teams scheduling tournaments with them instead of PG. Like I mentioned above it's going to be interesting to see how everything plays out in the future.

I agree, one of the allures of PG in GA was the facility of Lake point IMO. Granted the “PG” name in and of itself holds weight, the facility though expensive, was accommodating to out of state ballers, it was exciting, the energy and it offered a different experience from ECB.

ECB will have to fix up over there- their bathrooms are horrid and going back to real dirt and GA rain, plus the amount of fields for older players will affect their bigger tournaments.

PG youth, at least in this area, is really just PG by name only now. What made it unique to participate in a PG youth event good or bad - pitching rules, bat rules, LakePoint park, etc. - are no longer in play. Now it's essentially Triple Crown - triple crown rules (12U and below) and fields in Cobb/Forsyth formally used by TC.

Hope they enjoy paying for parking, getting overcharged for entry, and overpriced concessions among the other problems going on there. If Perfect Game left Lakepoint, with all the success they had there, what makes Travelball Select think they can survive there?

PG was able to get out of their deal since it was heavily one-sided. Lakepoint is still way upside down on paying back their investors, and I guess them combining with the guys with PBR is supposed to help offset that.

Going to be interesting to see how long it survives, to say the least.

With regard to:

1. Hope they enjoy paying for parking, getting overcharged for entry, and overpriced concessions among the other problems going on there

The simple fact is that it is a WHOLE lot better park than the hole in the wall places many teams play out of...It's worth the $5 parking. Gate prices will be whatever the tourney decides they are. Most places have overpriced concessions....have your cooler in the parking lot as usual.

2. If Perfect Game left Lakepoint, with all the success they had there, what makes Travelball Select think they can survive there?

There were MANY things that lead to PG leaving LP...none of which had to do with "survival". PG did just find there, the true problem was that PG is a power, and LP is a venue. LP thought they were the power and it was a war from the word GO.

3. PG was able to get out of their deal since it was heavily one-sided.

PG was able to get out of their deal because LP declared bankruptcy. that left all contracts open to renegotiation. What Pg realized is that it didn't have to partner with Gamechanger, it would own the data if they used diamonKast....they didn't have to pay trackman for their data...they could own that too! And paying to rent fields at LP....nope, PG realized they wanted their own fields, they are currently looking to break ground somewhere or buy a complex. PG has done a major shift since Jerry Ford's time. they want to own things now, not just lease them...they are a power and are acting like it.

4. Lakepoint is still way upside down on paying back their investors, and I guess them combining with the guys with PBR is supposed to help offset that.

The bankruptcy filing eliminated, or decreased, the money owed drastically. And, everyone agreed to the new deal before they filed bankruptcy. It is a high finance loophole that is used often, and was pretty much the plan B from the beginning of LP's inception.

PBR wants to be a power in GA, they already are in many other states. PBR having an interest in LP and LP having an interest in PBR makes financial sense.

You definitely have a point. I'm interested as well to see how it all unfolds...,
