Posted - 04/25/2015 : 16:25:09 I just wanted to take a minute and publicly thank my son's coaches and their philosophy on pitching. Since this is the only public forum I know, I'm doing it here! Last night was yet another game where we all witnessed a pitcher throwing over 125 pitches in one game (AND THEN immediately going behind the plate to catch I might add). I cannot believe how many games I have seen already this season with coaches leaving kids in and throwing close to or over 100 pitches. It saddens me to think of these kids' potential and how their talent could be blown by the need to win and "beat the ---" at all costs. For the first time in 3 years, my son has had NO ARM ISSUES!!!! (Knocking on wood now). I attribute this to the knowledge of arm use and how to use pitchers correctly by our coaches. I love hearing them say "he's 13, it's not worth his future"! I am hopeful and thankful that the coach's use of my son's ability will allow him to grow in strength and power so that he is successful when it counts and not facing TJ surgery because of egos. |
