When looking for a new team

You may want your kid to play AAA, but he really may be better suited for AA where he will get more playing time.

5.  ASK HOW MANY KIDS WILL BE ON THE TEAM!!!  Too many times parents are shocked that the team is carrying more than 12 kids, only 9 can play at any given time, if the coach is actively recruiting 15+ kids don't plan on your kid getting much playing time.

Ask parents who were on the coaches team the previous season about quality of coaching, team organization and communication. Ask whether the coaching staff seemed prepared each practice or game. A big RED FLAG would be if coaching staff/kids are the only returning players each season. Just because you are signing up with a big name academy does NOT mean you will have quality coaching or not have daddy/buddy ball issues. Just because someone claims to be a professional baseball player does NOT mean he knows how to COACH baseball. If he is a professional Google them! Make sure you have enough coaches that will be present for every practice, as practice with only 1 -2 coaches isn't very productive. When dropping thousands of dollars for elite baseball DO YOUR RESEARCH!! There is usually a reason why a coach is having to field a WHOLE team (minus coaches kids) EVERY season!

But yes...research is good.
