The easiest fix may be to just play your son up an age level. If 6U at the local park isn't competitive enough for him, the 7U age group may offer more of a challenge.

I'd be willing to bet money that several of those tournaments won't make and or they will be having 6u play against 7u or even 8u.

Renegade....that was funny!

6u is really young....you are going to spend a lot of $$$ and it won't get you "ahead."

I knew kids who started playing at 7u travel...guess how many are still playing at 14u? They burned out over the years or found other interests.

Also, protect that arm! Kid pitch can start as early as 8u.

Pace your kid or he won't play past 12. Son didn't start travel until 10 when he was getting bored and learning bad habits. We started with a cheap/dad/park low level team to get a feel if we would like it.

6u has a really hard time fielding tournaments honestly. I'd still play rec and make dizzy dean all stars and practice/play with the organized travel team when you can. Those all star tournaments are a lot of fun the most competitive 6u ball there is. At 6u you're just not going to find many organized teams to play against in travel ball tourneys.

He has been playing since he was 4 (tee ball) then rec ball the last 2 years. We are going to give it a shot. Where im from here in Gainesville, GA the rec ball is horrible. only a few teams each year and its just a waste of time. He loves the game of baseball. that is all he talks about. I coached his 6U football this year and all he said was i can't wait for baseball.

You would be better off going a couple towns over for rec ball and leaving travel ball until age 9 or up.

6u??????? As someone that's been through the process I tell you in all sincerety......Let them be little boys!!! Practice a couple times a week with your rec team, go to the cages for fun and bonding, go to birthday parties, the swimming pool, grandmas and let the crazieness wait. Much much too son at 6u in my opinion.
