CARTERSVILLE, Ga. – Perfect Game Baseball is pleased to announce the addition of well-known and highly respected youth tournament director Tony VonDolteren and his three-person team to PG’s growing staff of tournament organizers.

By bringing VonDolteren on board, PG will be able to greatly expand and enhance its tournament offerings to the 14-and-under and younger baseball community, primarily in the state of Georgia. All of the nearly 180 events will be held during a spring season running from February through June.

“We are very excited to bring Tony and his team on full-time with Perfect Game,” PG Founder and President Jerry Ford said as part of the official announcement. “We have gotten to know their events and staff over the years, and their tireless work ethic and passion for baseball is exactly what we expect from our staff.

“We feel that this will fit perfectly in our PG Youth Department and will contribute nicely to our ultimate goal of growing the game of baseball.”

VonDolteren, a former player at Florida Atlantic University, first got involved with travel baseball in 2006 and has been running events in Georgia and the St. Augustine, Fla.-area for the last 13 years. Throughout that time, VonDolteren told PG, he and his associates have developed “great” personal relationships with coaches and players; they worked closely with Guerry Baldwin and East Cobb (Ga.) Baseball during that time, as well.

VonDolteren is very much aware of and appreciative of PG and the efforts it has put forth that further serve the amateur baseball community’s youngest members.

“We are very excited about the new opportunity to be a part of the Perfect Game family,” he said. “It’s a perfect match for us because we’re all baseball guys – the baseball family is a tight-knit community and they share the same visions that we do. There isn’t another organization that comes close to what (PG) has been able to accomplish.”

The advantages of the partnership are many, in VonDolteren’s view, and he is most excited about being able to use the Diamondkast scoring system at the PG core tournament events he and his team will oversee. In the end, it is hoped that youth will, indeed, be served.

“Perfect Game is on the cutting edge of all this technology and we’re just ecstatic to be a part of this group,” VonDolteren said.

Unless I misunderstand your statement (which is possible), PG allows strictly for grad year ('hold back' having nothing to do with it). Rendering age, or birth date 'cut off' non-existent. Which at a certain point, kids have to quit kidding themselves by playing 'down' and get on their grad year (yet plenty reclass or were held back, so you have 12U 5th graders, that will be nearly 20 year old high school grads-- all to be a 'stud' coming up).

For example, this is taken from 13U:

"Games: 3 games guaranteed, weather permitting.

Age Eligibility: 2024 Graduate or younger OR born on or after May 01, 2005"

Simply put, if you're a 2024 grad, your age is meaningless.

At 13u plus, you get in where you fit in.

From 12u:

Games: 3 games guaranteed, weather permitting.

Age Eligibility: All players must have been born on or after May 01, 2006

Mixed thoughts on this one. Although I do like the PG pitch count instead of innings pitched and the age cutoff date without the grade (hold back) option. Wish other tournaments adopt the same rules. Only thing missing is have a min bat drop for 12u and below.

Also, How about a wood bat event?

We are working on adding a Wood-Only event to our 2019 lineup as we speak. More details to come.

Nearly every major sanctioning body including USSSA, Triple Crown, Prospect Wire and more have adopted the "Grade Waiver" eligibility policy.

We will be offering a great range of events for the lower AAA, AA, and lower level style teams for 14u and below and are listed as "MINOR". Prices will vary depending on location, level of play, among others factors.

Prices for the 8u-10u have actually LOWERED from 2018, and the 11's-14's remain competitive with the market.

ALL teams, regardless of skill level will be receiving the same great benefits of detailed player pages, full statistic records, dedicated scorekeeper, All Tournament Teams, MVP/MV-Pitcher Awards, Social Media Coverage, post-tournament write ups etc.

With that being said, the Off-Season Discount program is still in effect, and will be running from December 1st-January 18th (EXTENDED FROM 2018). All teams that pay for 3 or more events at the same time will receive $50 off of each eligible event!

Thank you for the feedback.

Just my opinion, but I think you are going to see the RBI's. Southern Sports, etc do very well in the future especially with the mid to lower level teams that used to play Triple Crown, and if someone steps up and offers HS age tournaments at a reasonable price they will do very well as well. $525-$900 plus a $7.00 a day gate fee is going to bring these level of teams looking for places to play. TD's better start looking for park space now.

Stink,

As of now, the only Triple Crown events that will be taking place in Georgia and Florida would be the US Club Nationals and the Fall Nationals run by the corporate office. For any more information, please reach out to them.

Everyone else:

We are beginning a great dialogue in another post, and have been answering questions there. We would love any feedback! As previously stated, more detailed information is soon to follow with a FULL rundown of the changes/additions/subtractions.

So does this mean triple crown will no longer exist in GA?
PGADMIN Posted - 11/16/2018 : 14:06:46
In addition, we will be offering BOTH 54/80 and 60/90 options for the Majority of our events for the 13U age group, along with our Gold/Silver/Bronze Playoff format!!!

Also, to alleviate any confusion...

--USABat Certification will NOT be required! BPF 1.15 certified bats for 12 and Under.

--The 13 and Under Divison may not swing anything lighter than a drop five -5. May swing -5, -3, or Wood.

--14U and Up will vary depending on the type of event.
