I realize this is a tired subject and it has been debated over and over, but if you happen to be a current high school catcher and you are reading this, please respond with the type of headgear you prefer and one reason why. It can be one word, like "comfort" or "safety". I am doing some research on player preference, so your input is greatly appreciated. If you are a parent, and can answer for your player, that will be acceptable as well.

Thanks.

My son wears a 2 piece during summer - one piece for school ball. He prefers the 2 piece.

Yes, I am aware of that, but high school catcher's do play ball during the summer, and a good number of them switch from one-piece to two-piece.

My son has been hit in the back of the head several times by a bat. one piece protected him, 2 piece would not have.

My HS player prefers a 2-piece. He says it is lighter/cooler - more ventilation, but he wears a vented cap, not a solid one.

GHSA does not allow 2-piece headgear, but PG, Triple Crown, etc. all do. He wears a 2-piece all summer long.

Thank you for your feedback.
