Great job 12u Astros placing second in 13u TC tournament this weekend. You lost to an excellent 13u Astros team for the Championship. You beat two VERY good teams in the Qtr finals and Semi finals. Team Georgia baseball and 643 DP.

Go get em at the Elite 32.

After playing in the TC tournament at EC this past weekend, I can't help but wonder why an elite park such as this can not have working scoreboards? We played 5 games there this weekend and did not have a scoreboard at any of the games. In walking around the 5 fields, only 2 of 5 had scoreboards that were operational. Is this a common occurence?

Sadly enough, I know for a fact they have spent tens of thousands of dollars the last 2 years trying to get them to operate correctly. Professional electricians still have not been able to correct the issues. It is very frustrating. Personally, I like the fact we aren't playing on cow pastures with working scoreboards and no field work between each game. How many mounds have you played on with a 6" hole at the rubber and in front with no one dragging the fields in between - so pick your poison. I would rather have a safe, groomed field instead of a scoreboard. The board is for the fans anyways not the boys.

I would have to strongly disagree with you oldman, the fields at ec are in horrible condition. Mounds are horrible as well as all the all dirt infields. They are what we all refer to as the sand dunes of EC. And the scoreboards are for the kids as well. Keeping up with counts and outs is miserable and should not be what the kids are worried about during a baseball game. Obviously the wiring was done horribly and for as cheap as they could get it done, so they are paying for that now.

I couldn't agree with you more ItsjustLLBBall- My son keeps up with the scoreboard a lot during games and so do the other boys. They really need to fix this problem and the nasty bathroom problems as well.

if only we could play at the "field of dreams" but it would be hard to hold a large tournament on 1 field... so i guess we can settle for the top baseball facility in the country ECB

I've always said the fields at ECB are #1... After Cooperstown, I would now say #2. Cooperstown Dream Park has 22 of the best fields you will ever see. Immaculate, drain like a pro field (maybe better), luscious green and real grass infields, and all the score boards worked. No artificial mounds, all dirt, built up, very nice. Everything in the park was freshly painted and looked brand new. We went the first week so I would be anxious to see how they’ve held up. While I would give them the #1 nod, keep in mind they play a whole lot less games than the fields around here, especially East Cobb.

The ECB fields get more use than most. Overall, the fields are in good condition. Could they be better, yes, but then we'd all have to take a few weeks off and allow them the time in mid season to do upkeep. I'm not willing to make that sacrifice and we've travelled all across the southeast and ECB fields are some of the best !

The scoreboards....that's a whole other issue. They should ABSOLUTELY work and be functional for every game. No excuses for this. If they paid someone to put them in and they didn't work, then they wasted their money. This has been an ongoing issue since they were installed and should be corrected .

The restrooms are maintained by the company that runs the concessions. This is subcontracted out to them. I agree, this needs improved as well. I've seen cleaner outhouses without running water ( that's a hint to my age !!! ). They also need to learn how to get their grease traps fixed on regular intervals. We've played some games this year where the odor actually was overwhelming. Good thing there is no smoking at ECB, if someone lit a match, we may have all exploded the stink was so bad !

Interesting that the whole "lighting a match and exploding" thing comes from a guy named "gasbag". Well played, my friend.

I don't deny, most of the best baseball players in the country congregate at ecb to play baseball and the set up of the whole facility is one of the best places to play, but the maintenance and arrogance at that place makes you really never want to play there..... ever. Anyone who knows anything about baseball knows what that place is all about.

Ouch, that congrats to the 12U Astros took a wide left turn. But back to the fields. I agree that if you have scoreboards up at a field like EC, they should be working, but I also don't know all the issues personally as to why they don't work still. As for the fields, does everyone know that they have a major fungus problem that has almost destroyed all the grass on the upper fields. They have shoveled out money for that also. They even went to the expense to repair terrible areas with Sod. Now hundreds of games for the next 4 weeks. Tough to keep up with.

It is definitely time to hire a new sub-contractor that will take care of the horrible bathrooms and charge reasonable rates for food. We could go on and on about why you hate EC, but they built it and they still come. Let's look at the other side: can anyone pick up after themselves ever at that park, teams included? Is EC the only park that charges for the day? No. Does EC let the host teams have the concessions money? No. Does EC make any money on the entrance fees? No the host team gets that, no one else, and they have to pay the grounds keepers also with that money. Having visited the park for years, it is still a good place to watch good baseball. By the way, $5 gets you a pass for the whole day to watch as much as you want or as little as you want, just like any other park. PLus' and minus' all over the country. Sorry to be so long.

I truly expected nothing less than what we got. Once again Congrats 12u Astros on their 12-0 run two weeks ago and the 2nd place finish in 13u tournament. That was what started this conversation...Field condition, you have to be kidding me....Scott, you should be ashamed bashing another park. EC is the pride of the Southeast...One field with an awesome owner/sponsor is hard to beat. Hats off to Tom... I personally dragged each EC field before every game....What was the problem???The grounds crew does not control the electricity to score boxes...what is wrong with the mounds???

I didn't mean to make it seem as if I was bashing the parents that volunteer their time to make the money for their teams. Of course they can't control how bad the actual fields are. But if you are saying the fields you are dragging and lining are in good condition, then you are a little off my friend. What is wrong with the mounds???? hmmmmm, well when you play as many games that are played on those fields, dirt should be replaced on a daily basis, which we all know isn't the case. So the holes and the powder that are all over those mound make it tough for the kids, both teams, to pitch. And those types of things actually can hurt an arm because mechanics are changed to avoid slipping and twisting their ankles. I don't think anyone was bashing the grounds crew anyway, I actually like all the guys on the grounds crew(well most anyway). It is the field maintenance which is controlled by the higher powers. Not having scoreboards that function is an embarrassment for that park. Call it what you want to call it. And I am not comparing EC to RoadRunner, because there is none, you can't compare the two because they are so different.

I dont think the conditions of these fields effected the outcome of your klast two tournaments there, but if u are more comfortable thinking so thats fine. This is a great complex and they have the best fields in the state... i would put any ecb field up against any other field in the area

It still doesn't matter how much ball is played at ecb. Look at all the money they rake in and still can not afford to fix the problems they have. Sounds like they are to busy lining pockets with all that money that comes in.
