The 2011 Sequoyah Jr Chiefs Program will be holding tryouts for 10U and 11U on July 24th from 3pm-5pm and July 31st from 3pm-6pm. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to start for registration. The tryouts will be hosted at Hickory Flat Academy, across from Sequoyah High School. Tryouts are free for all participants who live in the Sequoyah High School District. We had some questions on the 11U thread that I wanted to answer for 10U as well.
Will this program play tournament ball in Spring and Summer?
Both the 10U and 11U teams will play a combination of league and tournament play. We like the consistency of the league play and the competitive atmoshphere of the tournament play and think playing both gives the kids a solid learning experience.
How many kids per roster?
We are looking at 10 or 11 kids per roster depending on the numbers and quality we get at tryouts.
Will you have experienced coaches?
Yes, the coaches all have 5+ years experience coaching youth baseball and other sports. This will be a competitive atmoshpere but we will have a lot of fun along the way.
Will Sequoyah High School be affiliated with the program?
Yes, Coach Jones will be affiliated with the program and will be at one of the tryouts. We will also have the middle school coaches at the tryout. Sequoyah players will be involved in practices throughout the season and the Jr Chiefs will be announced at multiple Sequoyah games throughout the season. This is going to be a true feeder team.
We would like to get as many kids pre-registered as possible to allow us to maximize our tryout time. If you are attending the tryouts on July 24th, July 31st or both, please send an email (confidential of course) to juniorchiefs10u@gmail.com. We will return a registration form to you which you can submit via email. Once pre-registered you can simply give us your child's name when you arrive at tryouts and he will be ready to go.

We would like those that have not registered to arrive 30 minutes early to make sure your child gets registered and warmed up before the 3pm start time. If you have pre-registered you will simply need to give your childs name at check in and get his number.
