What an exciting time for all of us at Speedy Rays. This will be our inaugural season for Speedy Rays baseball and softball academy teams. I think that we have designed an excellent program to help the players improve and prepare them for the 2019 summer travel season. The following is a brief description of the program for you to review.
Practices will be planned, and all Academy teams will be following the same practice plans. This helps with consistency throughout the Academy and helps coaches stay on point. Drills and exercises may vary from team to team, but the topic will be consistent. For example, the topic of the practice may be bunts, bunt coverages, pick off plays. Individual coaches may have their set drills, but the goal is to teach and explain the topic.
Player development is our #1 goal however winning is a close second it will be the job of the coaches and instructors to have their players ready to compete. The players responsibility is to come to practice with a purpose, To get better, hustle, learn and push themselves to get better. We believe that an athletes will to succeed has to be greater than the skill it takes to succeed.
The season consist of the fall which we view as our developmental season. We play a very light tournament schedule, but the goal is developing and improving. There will be and instructor at every practice focusing on a specific group. There will be a pitching, hitting and fielding instructor rotating through the practices all fall and the 11 weeks of pre-season indoor practices to work with all the academy teams.
Speedy Rays is the National Training center for Vflex Sports. Vflex is being used by over 200 collegiate baseball and softball teams, 6 MLB organizations, over 100 high school baseball and softball teams and hundreds of travel baseball and softball teams across the country. Vflex is the only baseball/softball system that holds intellectual patents and as of now we have 3 intellectual patents on our system.
Vflex will be used at all age levels. Teams will go through either Vflex pitching or Vflex hitting programs during the fall and winter sessions. All 12U and older groups will be trained on Vflex pitching and hitting while the younger groups will only use the Vflex pitching program. All teams will be off for the months of November and December. The academy will be offering specialized programs during this time for those who would like to participate.
Tryout dates listed below: All tryouts will be held at our home baseball/softball complex- California Park in Dallas, GA
11U-Saturday, July 14th from 9:00-12:00 Please arrive at 8:30
11U-Sunday, July 15th from 1:00-3:00 Please arrive at 12:30
