It was great being the underdog for the first half of the year. The victories are sweeter. It is true... The ATL Icons did loose a couple of players to the (MGBA) program; however, we are in the process of reloading and remaining independent. Please reach out to us if you know of any major level players that are still looking for a team.

Just want to verify prior post. Gamers Blue did not beat Gamers Red. We lost two tough one run ballgames to them in Auburn. We hung with several Major teams and beat a few throughout the year, including two incredible games in the Grand Slam World Series Finals in Panama City Beach against Georgia Academy. We were much more successful team at the AAA level. Hopefully by combining some Red and some Blue, and adding a couple other key pieces, we will be competitive this year. Looks like we have the talent, the rest is up to us as players and coaches. Looking forward to it. |

Preseason should start the way the prior season ended... 1. Astros 2. Braves "they beat the astros at least once" 3. Jags 4. Roadrunners 5. 45's and whitesox |

The 2011 13U ECB Braves have released their roster to the public.
http://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=12uecbraves
Only 6 of 11 players from their 2010 12U roster are returning. Looks like they've added a player from the Roadrunners, Hobgood Extreme and an out of area AAA club.
Don't think you can predict them being 2nd best when they didn't dominiate against other "Major" teams in state or out of state. Had a strong overall record and won some tournaments...but what makes one think they'll be stronger than the Roadrunners?
Why do posters think ECB Astros will be best? Has their roster been released? Who's on the squad? Have they played a game to date?
And as confirmed in earlier posts the Southern Jaguars are no longer in existence.
BTW the ECB Titans released their spring roster as well...any thoughts on their potential strength in 2011?
What does anyone know what's going on with the 6-4-3 DP Academy 13U team? Are they expected to be an elite level club? |

Not sure where you find the 13U ECB Titans roster - don't believe it has been finalized yet.
The ECB White Sox are no longer in existence either so you can take them off your list. They are now the ECB Pride, a combination of White Sox, 45's, a Longhorn and a Roadrunner.
The Astros are still courting 18+ kids at this point so don't expect a formal announcement of their final roster any time soon. |

foul territory i seem to remember the braves beating the rr's in a major tournament last yearand the astros. why would u not think theyd be elite the rr's have a lost many key players to date and failed to get recruits they want. bottom line is nobody will know until the spring, that is unless the braves rr's and astros join the 45s in a triple crown at east cobb this fall. Then they can all battle it out for the preseason top 5!!! the gmaers and homeplate are welcome to get in on the action to if they are ready. |

Any news on the MGBA 13U club?...we should all get some information from reliable sources before assuming their strength in 2011. To my knowledge the club won't be managed by the gentleman who managed the Southern Jaguars the last three seasons. And many of the standout players from those clubs will be playing 14U in 2011.

the pride only have 2 whitesox players on roster. The 45s have 4 or 5 whitesox from last season. the 45s are more the colt45 whitesox combination. |

I remember the ECB Braves beating the Roadrunners too...in a Triple Crown event in April. Just don't predict them to be better than the Roadrunners. Both teams finished the season strong and represented Georgia well in Cooperstown; both finishing runner-up. However, the Roadrunners were unquestionably in a much tougher week that included NYBC Champion Lamorinda Monarchs, MBA Pride, Texas Nationals Team and GBC Team Acceleration.
Also went on to Elite 32 where they had identical records of the East Cobb Astros but gave up fewer runs and scored more. Why should anyone give the Astros credit for being stronger than the Roadrunners for that matter? Two of Roadrunners three losses were to a semifinalist and quarterfinalist (Tanel 360 VooDoo & MBA Pride),whereas the Astros lost to two teams not nationally recognized and failed to compete against powerhouse Tomateros de California.
Overall I think it's fair to say the Roadrunners played as tough a schedule as any team in Georgia last season. Don't know their roster status but I'm sure the organization will keep things going in the right direction. They have a track record second to none.
I agree that nobody will know until spring, so I can't think the Braves or Astros will be better than the Roadrunners until Spring.

WOW! Rosters aren't even set, season is several months away and you guys are already making predictions!? From what I have seen so far all of the talent was spread ALL over. None of the teams from last season are the same, so lets settle down and wait to see just who shows up in the spring! I think there will be some big surprises other than the Astros, Roadrunners and the Braves(who lost at least 4 of their best). |

After watching the talent at the NYBC Championships in August (Tomateros, Lamorinda, Houston Banditos, Rawlings 12, DBAT, etc.) I don't see any of these local teams competing much on the national stage this year. |

Hey spy....I'd get another job if spying is it because you are giving some very bad info....I have a feeling we(RoadRunners) will be just fine next year....Not really worried about other rosters, just know you are way off with ours...Sure, some offers were made to some that chose other teams, but that is the nature of the game. We say good luck to those that chose other teams and we say welcome to the ones that joined ours....And Mariners, I would like to think you are way off too, I have a feeling there will be a team or two in GA that will compete with the national scene teams... |

Me neither...look at my post on page 1...lol. That's may have something to do with prolonged announcement of ECB Astros final roster. They may be scrambling to figure how they can make a squad worth even returning to Elite 32. Traditionally 13U squad finishes their season there. Might see them travel elsewhere in 2011.
BTW, second time in three years Tomateros had near perfect season end in a major championship game loss (They did win 10U NYBC after Banditos Black declined invite as USSSA representative). In 2008 they lost Elite 32 championship game to Banditos Black. This year lost in NYBC to Lamorinda Monarchs after beating them 10+ times in a row out in California. Not that I feel sorry for them...lol. They've lost less than 8 games since 2007 with same core group and very few add-ons. |

Foul Territory, what team did your son play for last year?
To ItsjustLL....Good stuff! hahahaha
Marinersfan, I have watched these other national teams and I can say they have their weakness just like most other teams. I know there is a few teams in GA who can compete with any of them. |

Having gone through this I can assure you that there will be at least a couple teams from this area that will be competitive nationally. It is easy to get enamoured with teams from somewhere else.
I would not worry whether the 13u Astros roster will be strong or not. It is more about what will the 14 or so final players be.
I think the Roadrunners will be strong as well.
Things change when you get to 13U. Some teams are built for the smaller fields and struggle when moving up. Speed and strength become more important.
Some players that hit average gap line drives, now hit line outs to SS or 2b and struggle getting hits in the holes or over the infield. Some players that were hard throwers at the younger ages get beat around a bunch because they balls flatten out. Moving back 4 feet changes the pitch angle. Some adjust, some don't. It is always interesting to see.
Others will be able to play in, and benefit from, 14u tournaments where the field really opens up and off-speed pitches become even more prevelant.
It will be an interesting year for you. Relax and enjoy it because it goes fast over the next couple years. |

My son is a sophomore at Centennial H.S. and most notably played with Roswell Rockets. Primarily a pitcher, he works with a young man that recently moved on from the Next Level facility.
I do have a nephew in this age division, most recently playing with Team Clap Bat out of Florida, so I keep tabs on this groups activity too.
I must sound like a Roadrunner dad, ha? lol...maybe just an North Fulton area homer. What about your son? |

The Knights are pretty solid. My son tried out at HP this year but just didn't have what they were looking for. Heard the 45's were needing a catcher... may give them a try. My son is not very athletic but truly enjoys the game, hopefully we can find a team somewhere before Spring. |
