2019/2020 East Cobb Colt 45's Tryouts
Coach Mark Williams will be conducting private tryouts in the coming weeks.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
*Players who are willing to compete and never settle
*Players who are coachable
*Players who respect their teammates and the game
*Players dedication to practices and team games
*Players who understand that it takes work off the field to advance their skills
*Parents who understand that this is for their son not them
We will play at the AAA/Major level.
Fall schedule will have 4-6 tournaments.
Spring will have a full schedule of tournaments.
Practices will focus on the fundamentals of the game and team concepts.
The 13u team will be coached by Mark Williams. Mark was drafted his senior year of high school in the 4th round by the St Louis Cardinals and played through 1996 and was called up twice. He then played for the White Sox. Williams had professional instruction by the late Dave Ricketts, who instructed Mike Matheny and Yadiyir Molina. Ricketts is well known as one of the best catching instructors ever. The baseball strike, politics and injury got in the way of his major league career. Knowing this would keep him from continuing at that level, he began to teach individual player development while continuing to play professional ball in the Heartland Independent League and Atlantic League when he retired due to his injury and focus on coaching and player development. He took a job as Asst Baseball Coach at Anderson University alongside Coach Don Brandon-Division 3 Hall of Fame Coach and provided independent instruction where he has been able to pass on the special fundamentals that Dave Rickets. His students celebrated 2 MLB Contracts and 9 college scholarships. He went on to coach and instruct youth travel ball and is now in his second year with the East Cobb Baseball Organization. Mark will be recognized and honored in October of this year when he is inducted into the Colts Baseball Hall of Fame, Class of 2019 at his former high school.
