PrepStar Grinder Baseball, a travel baseball program based out of Cobb County, is looking to expand our roster for the upcoming 14U season with players interested in long-term development. Unlike other programs in Atlanta, our goal is to keep the same core group of players together each year as they move from 14U through high school with an eye towards maximizing each player’s opportunity to play college baseball.

Tryouts will be held on Tuesday, July 30th from 6PM to 8PM and on Saturday, August 3rd from 10AM to Noon at Whitefield Academy but we will accommodate individual tryouts anytime over the next two weeks.

If interested, please send your son’s information to pstarbaseball@gmail.com and we will contact you regarding the tryout.

For our 14U season, we will continue to play a competitive AAA / Majors schedule and we will wrap up the season in July 2020 with an optional trip to the Dominican Republic for games with local teams and community service in partnership with Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Weekly practices will begin in September 2019 and will continue throughout the course of the season until the end of June 2020. Outdoor practices will be held on the baseball field at Whitefield Academy with additional workouts in Whitefield’s new state-of-the-art indoor facility.

During the Winter months, the team work with the coaches at Pinnacle Prospects on speed & conditioning along with a throwing program to increase arm health and strength for the Spring season.

Team advisor and coordinator Mike Shaheen, varsity head baseball coach at Whitefield Academy, who formerly coached at Wesleyan High School, will lead our developmental staff and along with returning coach Des Atwell who also coaches both baseball and softball at Sprayberry High School. Joining Mike and Des will be pitching coach Aaron Fossas who is a pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds’ farm system and an offseason instructor at Pinnacle Prospects. In addition to Mike, Des and Aaron, we will also have dedicated paid infield and catching instructors at practices throughout the course of the season.

At the beginning of the Fall season, the coaching staff will create a customized development plan for each player designed to improve their physical and mental baseball skills. The coaches will meet with the players and parents throughout the season to measure each player’s progress towards their developmental plan.

Professional recruiting services will be provided throughout high school by PrepStar, which will create a personalized recruiting profile for each player on the team.

Address for Tryouts:
1 Whitefield Drive SE
Mableton, GA 30126

Directions to the field:
Turn off of Buckner Road into the main Whitefield entrance
Take your first right down a small paved road towards the baseball field
Continue driving until you come to the field
