A lot of roster have changed, some teams have folded. Who do you have as the top 12U teams??

Looks like Northeast Travelers loaded up and won the first tournament. Guessing they are the cream of the crop having picked up a big bat.

Looks like Velo took down the mighty Dingers, but I still think they are the best as they were missing several key players.

Dingers had the same problem as always. They rely way too much on the long ball and their pitching, while elite from a velo standpoint, is suspect because of control. They allowed four runs on just one hit and a ton of walks and strikeouts.

Dingers were missing 3 regular players, 2 were playing football. Velo has improved but those 3 players would have been a huge difference.

Dingers pitched their two hardest throwing pitchers in the Velo game and as previously mentioned the walks is what bit them. That didn't have anything to do with missing three players.

East Cobb Astros Orange looks to be the best team in GA. They beat a stacked Canes Pirro(Park Sharon). Orange looks to have several kids sitting low 70’s and several other throwing 65 or better.

From what I can see on paper and online their offense looks way better than their pitching or defense. They appear to have a far superior offense to anyone else in the state.

From what I see - they have several older kids...not playing their class.

Less than 3 weeks until the start of the travel season in Atlanta reviving this thread might be a fun idea although obviously its hard to gauge until teams start playing. As others have said ECB Orange looks to be the preseason top team in the area especially with the fact a number of their players played high level 12u ball last summer. Behind them is ECB Navy/Dingers which is the best returning team from 11u in Atlanta in my opinion although they didn't close the season strongly. I've heard they may be merging the top kids from Orange and Navy/Dingers...If they do so then the top team that comes out of that merger will be able to compete with anyone nationally and the second team from that will be closer to the pack. Clearly behind those two but to watch are TG Dbacks, Kenn Generals, Canes SE, 643 Bishop, Staf Dirtbags, ECB American/National, Titans Blue, Velo, and I'm sure there are a few other legit teams that will rise in the Spring. I would say by April we should start to get an idea of where teams stand. Also, with so many out of area teams like Canes Pirro, Line Drive, SBA, Southern Madison, etc that will be playing on a regular basis in Atlanta every weekend should be insanely competitive which is great for the development of area talent. Going to be a fun season!

Umm maybe! Let’s see after this weekend! By the way 4 or 5 should be playing 13u. Too scared to play your own age group.

You also need to consider who they are playing at tournaments. If your known to be so great, why does Perfect Game seed them to low performing teams? It’s to make ECB look good, come play with us it’s all about money. The known performing teams should be seeded with the harder teams. Actually play some teams that are good and Orange would not look so hot!

I see where you're coming from, but you also have to think about balancing out the teams that are playing in the tournament. Playing 2/3 potential #1 seeds together in pool play with multiple brackets in playoffs doesn't seem like the best idea. Personally, I wanted to see Pirro/Astros/Canes/Cougars in their own pool since they all made to one bracket this past weekend, but it would be a bad setup for everyone in playoffs by having to use their ringers against the other guys, with the other pool being relatively "easy". Or better yet, set up a weekend where the top teams play a round robin or something. Would make for some good TV if you ask me. LOL

I agree with GA Jags43, I would’ve preferred to see a gold and silver on Sunday to let the top
4 play and the bottom 4 also get a couple more potential games. My son played in the event on one of the “bottom 4” teams. As a parent, I was thrilled at the opportunity for my son and his teammates to face that level of pitching all weekend and the championship game was fun to watch.

Time for 12U Orange to play 13U 54/80. Made Motor City look like a AA team. I get their players are technically eligible due to the Grade/Age exemption that every tournament organization uses, but at this point they're doing a disservice to themselves by not challenging themselves by playing up.

East Cobb Orange wins 12U PG championship in a forfeit. Their opponents “said” they had no pitchers left. At least 3 players still were eligible to pitch. Yes, my team has played EC Orange and yes we were run ruled, but we didn’t forfeit. I know Southern Madison Sluggers would have loved a chance to play EC Orange.
