Earlier in the year the discussion was thrown out of the Top 10U Teams in GA prior to the season really getting under way. In an effort to generate some more respectful banter..who would you list as the top 10U Major/AAA teams in Georgia as of right now? (Keep in mind they are 10 years old so this is all in good fun)

Let the debate begin!!

Well I would say EC Longhorns have proven that they are the Top Dawg. Followed by the GA Yard Dawgs a close second. After those 2 I would say there are 10 teams bunched up. Not as consistant as the 2 top teams. When one team looks like they are going to step up, They fall down the following week.

I am looking forward to seeing the Longhorns at Cooperstown. Especially a few of the Dads that promise to buy me a round..LOL

Did EC Longhorns play in any 10U tournaments beside NIT? I understand they are an excellent team and play some 11U tournaments, but how do you say they are the best when they don't face 10U competition. On any given day teams are beat by strong pitching and good defense. I have seen a lot of these type games at 10U. Same with the Yard Dogs. Gentlemen, register for a 10U every now and then. We welcome the competition. Last week, Triple Crown had one of the best 10U tournaments of the year. NC Warriors pitching outlasted Ringgold Factory in a great game. As far as the other teams baseballnutz listed, 643, Wills, Covington and OP are all strong teams.

Ok...I'll take a stab.

Major
1. EC Longhorns
2. GA Yard Dogs
3. Ringgold BB Factory
4. 643
5. North Cobb
6. Mill Creek
7. OP
8. SP Falcons
9. Covington Sting
10. OTC

Positions 8-10 are tough to distinguish and could change every weekend. Several others (EC Yankees, HP, Wills Park, EC Mudcats, S Paulding, West Forsyth DD) are good enough to make some noise any given weekend.

AAA
1. Savannah Bulldogs
2. Georgia Blues
3. Kennesaw
4. Coal Mountain
5. SP Wildcats

These AAA teams are really majors.

1. Yard Dogs (want to see them in more 10U)
2. Longhorns (want to see them in more 10U)
3. 643 (always competing well against tough teams)
4. Ringgold Baseball Factory (haven't seen, but have beaten good teams)
5. North Cobb (want to seem them play the teams on this list)
6. ECB Yankees (gone to sleeper role, but strong still. Main losses to 643 & Ringgold, still look very strong
7. Covington Sting (never heard of them, but beat YD and have good history)
8. Mill Creek Hawks (TOP 5 IN ANY OTHER STATE! How much pitching they have is possibly the question)
9. Elite Gamers Red (solid club, would like to see them come out of their USSSA cave)
10. Savannah Bulldogs (until they come up here and get crushed, they need respect)

Horables:
Wills Park - until they beat the ECBs, OP, and other neighbors on a regular basis. I have seen them and they are good though.
OP Sharks - a good team, but lacking pitching (to compete vs bigger offenses) after their top LHP is out.
OTC - haven't heard from them in a while. They are a good team. Just a tough state.
Signature Park Falcons - good team. No major impact players, but all very solid.

Can someone please give my Valdosta (Batmen) boys some respect? They finished 3rd this past weekend in the Back Yard Brawl and are 30-3 this year with the only loses coming on the road to the Yard Dogs, Wills Park, and North Cobb! The Yard Dogs, Longhorns, and NC are my top 3, but I have not seen any others at the Brawl or at the NIT that really stood out among the others.
It will be interesting to see how the GA teams fair this weekend in Lake City against the FL teams and we'll know a lot more about how the 4 GA teams compare with one another after each play the same 4 great FL teams.

I don't think they are a darkhorse but the Yankees may not be as strong as last year but still will compete with anyone. And Sig Park has a lot of talent.

Other than the top 2, North Cobb has very good deep pitching and their bats have come alive the last couple of weeks, scary lineup. And Wills Park, they may not have the pitching that NC has but they can hit with anyone.

I heard your GA Hurricanes are playing in a Tournament at 643 next week against some strong teams, I believe 643, OP, NC, ECB 10U and 9U Longhorns and others will be there. I guess the speculation on where they stand will be gone.

I would add East Side Hurricanes to the list of top AAA teams. They can hit and pitch with most of the Mid-Major teams. I think a mid-season reclassification would show about 15 "high" Major teams, followed by another 25 teams comprised of a mix of the next 15 Major teams and the top 10 AAA teams, all of which seem pretty even (at least with respect to the AAA teams that have been playing and competing in the Triple Crown and other tournaments featuring Major and other top AAA teams). I think that a tournament limited to these 25 or so teams would be competitive and entertaining.

I will give Valdosta Batmen some kudos seem like a very solid team from what I hear!! I did not realize that 643DP had a tourney next weekend but will be a good test for the GA Hurricanes for sure. I have seen them play and they have top tier coaching and pitching for sure...I think they will fair well but time will tell.

Keep the discussion coming!!!

Valdosta - I don't think it's any disrespect to you, we just don't see you that much and don't know much about your team. I will say you've played 3 teams on the list and are 0-3 which makes it tough to put you in the top 10. I'm sure if you where in this area and played these teams more you boys would pull out a couple of W's.

Now I know some think Valdosta is N. FL, you almost sound like your pulling for the great FL teams. I'd like to think we have some great teams right here in GA.

BNuts - So far, most of the "mythical" ratings have shown North Cobb or Mill Creek or both ABOVE Covington Sting. In an attempt to be a little more objective, we must consider the fact that Covington Sting BEAT North Cobb in the SNIT and has bested Mill Creek 2 of 3 meeting including the last 2 in a row.

North Cobb and Covington Sting are on a roll, but you must give the edge to Covington since they won their head-to-head matchup.

Therefore, wherever anyone decides to put North Cobb, Covington should be ABOVE them.

AS for Wills Park, nobody recognized their potential more than me; when nobody had them in the conversation, I did. However, they must beat somebody on the list to be on the list I think.

As for dark horses, there are some. The GA Hurricanes have won the tournys the played...5 for 5 or 5 for 6 first place finishes albeit not against the toughest competition. But it is certainly notable that you win what you play and they have done that to the point of being bumped up from 10u-A to 10u-AAA by usssa.

Lastly, you'll note the only recent blip on Covington Sting's radar is their lost to HomePlate Chilidogs-Burford. The C-Dogs have 2 1st place finishes so far this season (one at 10u-Maj and one at 11u-AAA) and two 2nd place finishes. And having beating the Gamers Red twice who was on everybody's early top 10 list and with the aforementioned win over the red-hot Sting, the C-Dogs definitely deserve to be in the conversation at minimum as a dark horse but realistically in the top 10. The C-Dogs can play with anybody but they'll have to get out there and show it some more. But if you have Wills Park who hasn't beaten anybody on the list (I don't think), you gotta have my C-Dogs who have beaten teams on the list....how'd you like that shameless plug...

ValBat - That certainly is an impressive record thus far. Great job. Which wins would you say are your big, marquee wins to date?

Keep it going and I'll look for you all on the field.

Here is a shout out to the V Batmen for solid finish this weekend. I watched you guys play early Sunday and rally a nice come from behind win over Eastside. Again, it was a nice comeback but I don't see your squad as a top 10 team every weekend in this area. I applaud your 4th place finish and one could assume a lot of it had to do with the top heavy upper half of the bracket play. That is what makes a competitive baseball tournament exciting. I mean NO disrespect, that’s just how I see it. Congrats again!

No disrespect...just haven't seen you guys in action yet. With that kind of record, you guys must have some talent.

I agree...didn't realize ES is listed as AAA. They're in the mix as a top AAA, but guess I view them as a low-mid major team.

I wish the Batmen would come over to Savannah next weekend for the Triple Crown Tournament. Can't remember the last time y'all came this way. The best 10u team in South Ga. will be there.

forgive me for asking, but why is it I never see the Atlanta Blue Jays mentioned? They played in the Elite 32 last year as 9u, finished a respectable runner up at the NC SNIT. Maybe not top 5 but not a top 10 team? Someone care to explain? Thanks

They haven't won in this area this season and if you look at NC SNIT it was not a strong 10U field.

The Blue Jays scheduling is similiar to Yard Dogs and Longhorns. Thy don't play many local games so people do not get an opportunity to see them. They have an excellent ball club.

Valdosta batmen, whose side are you on, Georgia or Florida. Is it because your add on short stop is from Tallahassee, Florida. HHMMM, Having that kid would give you a solid 30 plus win record.

Top Team is GARank State Teams Power Rating Usssa

1 GA GA Yard Dogs Black 1225
2 GA East Cobb Longhorns 1190
3 GA 6-4-3 DP Cougars 1167
4 GA Signature Park Falcons 1157
5 GA Ringgold Baseball Factory 1114
6 GA Wills Park Warriors 1011
7 GA South Paulding Xplosion 991
8 GA North Cobb Warriors 988
9 GA Covington Sting 934
10 GA Home Plate Chilidogs - Burford 901

I'm not a big fan of the points system because many teams don't play UTRIP tournaments but the PWR Ranking atleast bases the info on who and how you play instead of how many UTRIP tournaments you enter.
