The 12u East Cobb Diamondbacks are a competitive, AAA team. Our coaching philosophy is to provide a positive, safe, fun learning environment and to expose the players to the best competition in the country. We are very privileged to represent East Cobb Baseball and we dignify that in the way we practice and the way we play. The Diamondbacks are known for being a tenacious team with a never quit attitude. We believe that winning is a by-product of hard work and team building. Our goal is to prepare every player for the opportunity to play high school baseball and beyond but, most importantly, to teach them the life lessons to be successful outside of baseball.
What are we looking for?
We are primarily looking for 3-4 AAA/Major athletes with a strong work ethic, positive attitude and parents who are supportive and respectful. We need depth at all positions but particularly C, SS and P.
Coaching Staff
Manager - Mike Oliver
8 years of coaching experience at East Cobb Baseball, East Side Baseball and Sandy Plains Baseball. Mike received numerous scholarships to play high sports but eventually attended Ga Tech on an Air Force ROTC scholarship and served in the US Navy during Operation Desert Storm.
Coach - Jack Mangiante
Jack is a former outfielder at Gettysburg College in PA and has coached at East Cobb Baseball and Sandy Plains Baseball. This year will be Mike and Jack’s third year of coaching together.
Coach – John Christian
John pitched in college and has years of coaching experience. He joins us from the Sandy Plains Wildcats. Coach John helps young pitchers achieve their potential through the development of proper mechanics, a rigorous, year-round training program and positive reinforcement.
2011-12 Season
We plan to play 65-80 games including Cooperstown next summer. We play a light fall schedule (2-3 tournaments) and practice 2 days/week to allow for other sports. We will receive professional instruction during the off season continuing into the spring through the PV Baseball Training Center, the East Cobb Baseball Academy and Sports-A-Rama East Cobb. We will play 12-15 tournaments in the spring/summer and practice 3-4 days/week when we are not in tournaments. Our practices are split between the East Cobb Complex, Mt. Bethel Field and one of the local high schools.
Please RSVP for one of the remaining workouts or schedule a private workout. All players must register for the East Cobb tryout on August 5 & 6 and pay the $100 tryout fee. This fee covers you for any East Cobb tryout including the main tryout in August.
Tryout Dates:
Sunday, July 24th, 5-7 pm
Wednesday, July 27th, 6pm – 8pm

Last chance before the main ECB tryout. The ECB Diamondbacks will have a workout Wednesday, August 3 at 7:00. We are still looking for strong pitchers and impact players.

Please note - change of date -
The Diamondbacks will hold a pre-ECB tryout clinic this Thursday, Aug. 4. We are looking for a strong AAA/Major catcher and a bracket pitcher.
