What are expected Cost:
Umpire: is it cheaper to get one in local area up there or bring one?
Pins: Are they still doing that and what are the costs?

Someone said they paid for the coaches... I guess maybe they might have paid coaches - not sure. But if the coaches are Dads of kids on the team then shouldn't they pay their own way..?

We went at 10, and will be returning this summer.

Umpire, we found one who was already going to be there. Paid $600 two years ago.
Pins: They still do it. It aint cheap :-(
We paid the Cooperstwon registration for the coaches. My opinion: They have to stay on the dorms with the boys, they should not have to pay that additional cost. They did pay for thier own travel. (These were dads)

We also had someone who offered to drive a big SUV up with the gear. We all pitched in to pay for gas. It was cheaper then checking the gear. I don't know if we will have that option this year.

Yeah, it costs $795/coach for the "privilege" of sleeping on a cot in a dorm. It's enough of a sacrifice already without the burden of the additional cost. And, I would feel that way even if I wasn't one of the guys on the cot!

As for paying coaches fee for Cooperstown, I believe that the team should pay. The players can't go without chaperon's/coaches in the barracks. If the coach's family wants to attend, then he also has the cost of renting their lodging in addition to his "barracks" fee. Not a fair gig for a person already volunteering their time and energy to coaching the team.

I understand about the coaches fee, didn't know they had to pay in addition to their child.

You pay per person, coaches and players. 2012 price is $795 each, so if a coach and his son go, they're looking at $1,590 in Cooperstown fees alone. Then the lodging for their other family members who attend. Alot of coaches wives/non-playing siblings will share a house, but you're still looking at another big chunk of change to cover their share of that.

That's why I never had any issue covering the coaches portion of that cost.
