We have an umpire who long ago asked to come with us, but we have not discussed comp. What is the going rate? I want to be fair to our umpire and our families, so appreciate any guidance.

Thanks,
Andy

We paid $600 the summer of 2010. He lived near Boston and spent most of the summer in Cooperstown. I have no idea how much this may have gone up.

We paid $650 two summers ago - but did not have to pay travel. When I thought we were going to take a local umpire - I was planning on paying travel plus nominal ($200+/-) stipend. Truth is you can find umpires in the NE that will do it for around $600 - and you wont have to pay travel.

$600 is probably the max you would pay, and you can definitely find someone that will do it for less. Our umpire that we used in 2010 was from Connecticut and drove down, and we paid him $400 for expenses to get there and back.

If you are still looking for an umpire let me know (spwildcatsbb@gmail.com) and I will pass along the names and numbers of umpires that contacted me and are looking for a team to represent this summer.
