The question I have is why at 14, teams websites still hide there rosters? I can see at the earlier age to protect the kids but at 14 what are you hiding? We had one coach hide them because he didn't wont other coaches calling the parents to take the kids. I think at 14 it's ok High Schools post them. I like looking at other sites rosters just to see were kids end up. We have met some nice kids over the years and I like to see were they are playing. Hey can't get enough of this stuff.

I totally agree with you!! Teams should show their roster and be proud. Some teams don't even have websites up yet??? Hello, three more weeks until most teams 1st tourney.

Lots of stratiegic reasons for not showing all your cards yet. Heck there is still alot of shuffeling around and deal making going on.

Call it what you want. I know of coaches that have commitments from players that have not yet completey broken ties from thier former team. or have committed to a team that is not working out.

I also know of coaches that have players committed but don't want to post rosters because in part they really don't want everyone knowing they got a commitment from that big lefty that others are still trying to recruit.

Ever seen a player pop up on a roster and thought....I can't believe that kid is playing with so and so?

Think some coaches don't start makeing phone calls?
Not saying I agree or disagree. But there is strategy involved like it or not.

Not at this point....In the fall, yes, but not now. Teams are basically set, with most teams holding out 1 or 2 spots for the kid that just moved from xyz state, etc. Everyone holds a spot or two open, but at this point there is no strategy. I guess that the "strategy" is trying to recruit one more player? Come on.

Well.....i've explained it as best I can. Perhaps you just don't like the term " Strategy "....I believe it fits.

I saw a quote the other day " I can explain it to you but I can not understand it for you "...................

"teams are basically Set ".....have you checked out the players looking for teams / Teams looking for Players.
I'll agree most are set but

Just qurious....what do you believe the reasoning is for so many rosters not beieng posted ?

Most rosters are posted now. I really don't see anything strategic by not posting a roster at this point. Doesn't matter at this point anyhow, we will see what everyone has this weekend. Play ball!!

Sounds like we are just fishing for something to talk about. Don't tell me its already over. We gotta round up the crew; you know all the trash talking, smack talking, pot stirrers. Where u at Smoke, Fire, Spygate, sccapity, whit, gator, lottapop, pops, nastycurve, and anyone else i'm forgetting. It appears that we are running out of time. Our little guys are growing into young men. I have noticed the threads diminish almost completely when they hit 14, but I thought we had a good live bunch.

The OP did not ask if it mattered.

He asked why some rosters still were not posted. I offered a few possible explanations.

As far as my "opinion" I didn't offer one......except that I didn't think it mattered.

Hey I like to look around and see who is who and where the kids that we know have moved on to as much as anyone. There are STILL players moving around. Most rosters are posted now. The others will be posted soon. It's been like this for years, I don't see it changing.

Now your just talking in circles. Your opinion is all over this post about why rosters are hidden. battinglast is right, we need to find something more interesting to talk about. Hopefully that will happen this weekend.

Care to share with all of us what your "opinion" is, as to why so many teams wait to the last minute ( or atleast beyond the point at which you approve ) to post their rosters?

Surely there is some logical explanation ( other than those I offered)why teams do this EVERY year...........

No doubt this topic has gotten pretty lame...but for now it's all we got.

My "opinions"(as you call them) are Facts. I'm pretty sure there is a difference.

Wow! You have way too much time on your hands..... If a team doesn't have a team by now, I think they are up a creek. You really don't have your "facts" staight. I am done with this ridiculiousness. Just ready for some baseball and better discussions. I don't know why people wait to post their roster, but at this point, don't care anymore.....

I think it has a lot to do with the number of kids this age that are playing for their school. Teams are starting their season later because of school ball so there is no reason to post your roster until you play your first USSSA tournament. Also, a lot of schools don't allow their players to play travel ball until the season is over so that is probably a reason not to post your roster.

A couple more good points Whit. H/S ball is definately messing things up for tournament ball.

GREAT TEAMS NOT POSTING AN 18-20 MAN ROSTER, KNOWING THAT THE LOWER HALF WONT PLAY MUCH (Lower-half but still good ballplayers with parents just wanting their kids to be dragons & wear the name instead of being "dragon-slayers")SOUNDS STRATEGIC TO ME IN THE FACT THAT THEY MAY WANT TO KEEP THESE LOWER-HALF GUYS OFF THE WEB(roster not posted) SO THAT OTHER COACHES WITH GOOD TEAMS (good but still may need a little more horsepower) WILL NOT KNOW WHO IS OUT THERE THAT THEY MAY CAN OFFER/SELL A SPOT WITH MORE PLAYING TIME TO. LET THE GAMES BEGIN.......
