Ok baseball fans. We are now 4-6 weeks into the season and we have a better gauge of the top 10. Who are yours?

These are my TOP TEN:

1. EC Astros (pitching depth and quality, bats coming around)
2. Savannah Bulldogs (Played tough schedule, tough team, Nice win over RBI)
3. RBI (Nice wins over 643 Cougs, Home Plate, Bullpin Bulls)
4. OTC (Slow start, strong showing in GA/FL qualifier, still getting behind a lot)
5. Alpharetta Warriors (Typical Warriors team, up and down. Nice wins over 643 Cougs & Jags, bad loss to GA Hurricanes)
6. 643 Cougars (Need more pitching, hitting, speed)
7. Valdolsta Black Sox (Nice wins over Gamers and Bluejays, solid schedule, why didn't they play the GA/FL? they could have been playing at home in April)
8. Elite Gamers (Nice win over Blue Jays, need more pitching)
9. JCS (Nice win over the Astros, Nice showing in GA/FL, getting behind early, losing games late, need more pitching)
10. Atlanta Blue Jays (Speed to burn, need to improve defensively)

Honorable mention shout-outs go to:

643 Jaguars (Nice TC March Mayhem tourny win, nice win over WFDD, need to play more, need more pitching)
WFDD (Strong out of the gate, nice wins over OTC (2 wins), Alpharetta Warriors and 643 Jags, need more pitching)

Surprising Performances

1. GA Sting (losing games late, need more pitching, not many wins)
2. GA Hurricanes (Nice win over the Astros, need more speed, need more pitching, need to play more 11maj and less 12aa/aaa)

Missing in Action:

1. Home Plate Chili Dogs (where are you?)
2. GA Yarddogs ( ??? )
3. Ringgold Baseball Factory (come out and play)

It's early and “almost” anything can still happen!

Love these post. All these teams are good. I don't like the fact that 643 will not be representing us against Fla. But that is baseball. Don't have a dog is this fight. Good luck. We will see how the top ten changes if any in May.

Now all you have to do is have someone argue & then you call a tournament director to give you guys a separate bracket and invite these 10 into a double elimination tourney. Throw out something crazy as a first place gift(ex:heavy weight belts) & you got a great weekend of baseball :)

That would be awesome...all of these teams are pretty evenly matched...some just have a ton of undeserved hype following them around...not calling anybody out...just saying lots of parity in GA 11u baseball. That's good for the game.

Hardballer - Nice List! Right now the only spot I think most will agree on is the top spot. You could turn 2-10 over and make a case for that order just as easily, it just depends on the weekend.

Hardballer,

Pretty good list, and I think the season has already shown that none of the teams are completely dominant. Should make for an exciting year. I still think some kids will have to move around if one or more of these teams want to compete with the Astros throughout the season.

HP has struggled with a few injuries and have been playing with some fill ins. Hard to make tournaments that start on Thursdays on the North side. Hopefully we will be past our injuries in a few weeks. Looks like we may have lost the initial sprint, but I believe we will have a successful year.

Great list Hardballer, and I also agree with Nutz.....#1 is likely set on everyone's list and you could make a case at any spot 2-10 on the list. I saw some great baseball this weekend in the GA-FLA qualifier.....several upsets to make the brackets interesting but that is 11-yr old baseball. Good luck to the Astros, OTC, JCS Miners, and the Bulldogs in April. All 4 teams played great this past weekend and definitely earned their spot with big wins in the tourney.

Also, not sure if anyone else noticed but 3 of the 4 final teams all came from the same Pool (Astros, OTC, JCS)

Wareagle - Good observation about kids having to move around for a team to compete with the Astros late in the bracket. Bottom line is when they start bring out the "BIG guns" slinging it 65mph +, unless you can match it on the hill, 9 games out of 10, you fall further and further behind. Some team would have to acquire a couple of high quality pitchers with very good control, tantalizing off speed stuff, and at least 63mph FB. Not many of those laying around!!!

Nutz and Double - The 2 thru 10 teams are very close agreed. However, honestly, I just wouldn't bet the farm that any of the bottom 4 (7 thru 10) would beat my 2 & 3 teams in a 3 game series. I'd really say the same for 643 Cougs, I don't think the bottom 4 would beat them in a 3 games series. The reason I was compelled to put OTC and the A-Warriors ahead of 643 at 4 & 5 was on the strength of OTC recent performance albeit that had to comeback on other's errors and the Warriors most recent nice win over 643. However they did loose to the cougs a few weeks back.

By the way, Honorable Top Ten Mention also for the GA Hurricanes (I inadvertantly left them out)...they're right there with the pack as long as they don't keep going down to the RBA Legends who went down to the Grayson Rams 19-4...uggghhhh!

Anyway, that's it for this one....Let's keep it moving.

On behalf of my son and my family I want to thank so many of you for taking time this past weekend to stop by and wish my son well and offer support and prayers for his health. To say we are blown away by the genuine concern and kindness of so many of you would be an understatement. Special thank you to Joe Austin and the blue jays players who signed a jersey and walked into our dugout to give it to Ryan personally. Joe, words cannot express how we feel about your teams gift! So many hurricane coaches and parents, OTC coaches and families, RBI families, JCS coaches and families, and I can go on took time to stop by an offer support. This board is about baseball ad we all have our opinions good and bad about teams, coaches, etc. But for this moment I want to post on this board our sincere thank you and humility. Knowing we are surrounded by people that truly care in such a competitive atmosphere brings perspective to how truly wonderful our Georgia travel community is.

Because of the prayers and faith of all of you, I am pleased to let you know we feel the issues with Ryan have been identified and can absolutely be treated. It will be a couple weeks before he gets back out there with his teammates and
competitors, but he will be back out there and will be able to continue playing this great game. God has heard all of you and has provided us a path for his healthy future. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness!!!

Congrats by the way to our Georgia brothers JCS, OTC, savannah bulldogs and of course the closest most genuine group of coaches players and families I have ever been associated with, the ECB Astros for making it through and representing
Georgia in Valdosta. Lets go get those Florida boys!!!

Sincerely and grateful

Jeff And Ryan Lobus and family

Good luck to all the teams that qualified for Ga/Fl in Valdosta. We have tried for years to get our P/R to host these events at Freedom park. If we can help any of the teams in any way, let us know. Valdosta Black Sox

Thanks TDD... Great game with you guys and look forward to playing again soon. Wish we could have pulled it out against Miami but is was not in the cards....... I Think you are going to have to come to GA...We do not want to play in another USSSA tournament in Fla....Umps were too much for us...When they laugh at calling a kid out and tell you that you will never get a call in Fla, it is time to move on....

Did anybody happen to notice, that the kid who pitched for MVP against Team Combat, according to what is showing on the USSSA website, pitched 1 inning too many in the Florida NIT this past weekend. If that's the case, shame on whoever allowed it and on who missed it.

Umps were awful this weekend, the strike zone was all over the place. Sorry to hear they had that kind of response. I did like your 3rd base coach going after the ump in our game, was classic.

Great job on having your kids fired up for our game, no doubt they wanted it. Hopefully we get to have the rubber game at tbs. no doubt you guys will have a great season & be incredibly successful, good luck the rest of the way!!!!

I would like to see OTC get in the 643 DP Baseball Spring Invitational this coming weekend. Where are those guys playing at?
Looks like a solid showing that may alter the top ten seeding or at least quite a few of them from the above lists are there anyway.

So after the 643 and ATPP tournaments any surprises or re-shuffling of the top 10?

Not really. Hardballer did a good job. We may have to expand it to the Big 12. Ringgold/Jags have to be in there some place. I would say they are not in any particular order also. However, the Honorable mention has grown. There are a few teams that you just cant take lightly because given the chance they will beat you. I stand by my preseason statment that is coming true on parity of top teams. That they will beat each other on any given day. Gotta bring your A game.
