If I was a betting man, which I am, I would go with Legends Baseball vs. Patriot Baseball Academy in the ship. This should be a battle of who has more depth in pitching. Four games in one day is going to be tough. |

Acworth pitching will give them a chance to make noise on Sunday. I have to agree with MAPSTRE on the ship but have not seen all the teams to make an educated guess. |

I like Hobgood Braves in final four. Big strong athletic kids that can hit. Just a piece or two away from being legit 12u major next year! |

I will take the Express in this one. No way they are a AA team. There are 2-3 teams in here that I don't believe are AA teams. Don't know a lot about them but that Team Georgia could give them a run for their money. You don't beat the EC Spartans by accident. |

Good tournament. Both semi-final games decided by 1 run. Legends- East Side game came down to final out with a Legends runner on third. Very exciting game. Did not see the Express - Team GA game. Had to be a nail biter. Team Georgia - Hobgood game was a well fought battle with Team Ga battling back to win in the last inning. 3rd base coach for Hobgood needs to learn some manners. Did anyone else notice how squishy the balls were on field 2? |

I have heard of rubber balls a few times this year. I can't believe the umpires don't check every ball in play. |

I overheard the TD talking with one of the umps regarding the balls. Paraphrase - "Yeah, they are a little squishy but you can't beat the price"...... |

Tommynole99-What did you think was wrong in pool play? The chirping you refer is annoying and I'm their coach. However, I'm hard enough on them making sure they understand the game. That's the least of my worry. They are respectful and courteous when in the dug out while the pitcher is doing his/her thing. Question.....Is anyone else sick and tired of when a kid gets hit the other coach just knows it was on purpose? Give me a break! |

We are now entering the age of hitting players on purpose. That's baseball. Just being honest but if a team hits a home run and the entire team comes out and does the tick tick boom..and all fall away. Next guy is getting one in the ear. |

Peashooter, hope you're kidding. Beaning on purpose is NOT 12u baseball. |

Anybody who thinks it's ok to tell a 12 year old child that it is OK to hit another in the head with a fastball should not be coaching those 12 year old children. |

I can understand that it looked intentional, but with that particular pitcher, it wasn't. When Hobgoods 3rd base coach accused them of hitting the batter, that was just classless. That is not the way the Legends play ball. They worked out of that inning and came back to tie Hobgood in the next inning 6-6. I think over the whole tournament, they hit 5-6 batters in the whole tournament. 12 yr old kids are still not able to control their pitches all the time. |

I am saying you are entering the ages where kids may get thrown at. I know at 13 I was instructed to hit someone. I also know I hit plenty of kids not trying too (a tad wild was I) Also, when I say in the ear, I am being figurative...When I coached older kids and even professional coaches always tell you to aim behind the guys Butt when hitting them. You don't go head hunting..I agree about that and was not being literal on the "ear" comment. |

I also challenge other coaches to teach there 12U kids to respect the game. The tick tick boom garbage, waving the bat on a fake bunt trying to draw wild pitches, looking at the signal from the catcher while hitting, heckling pitchers during the pitch..., will all get you beaned when you play... If you don't want to get hit, then respect the game. I know when my monster hits a bomb, I scream at him to run around the bases, and tell my players to stay in the dugout. Grand slams are the only time they can come out to the plate. |

We were there this weekend and didn't have a problem with the balls. Alot of foul balls at those fields so coaches are throwing in alot of balls. I think that is where the problem comes in. Umpires need to check those better. As far as telling a pitcher to hit a batter in the head at this age or any age is crazy. Goes to show that just because you played at a high level doesn't make you qualified to coach kids. Now pitching in side and getting batters off the plate is a different matter. It is time forthese pitchers to learn to get batters off the plate and by doing so sometimes a batter will get hit. That's baseball! That's learning how to pitch. I do agree with one thing peashooter said. No place for the the tick tick tick boom in 12u baseball. That stopped being funny at age 8. |

Just curious on opinions...What is an acceptable home run celebration at 12U? I've seen everything from tick tick boom to stay in the dugout to wait from them just outside of the dugout. I know the 14Us and up will all stay in the dugout which is how it should be at that age. Does it take the "fun" out of the game too early to take some kind of celebration away from the player? |
