This will be one of the great tournaments of the season. If this were played three times I would bet there would be a different winner every time. Four favorites will be the four that made the semis @ 643 this past weekend. |

It looks to me like the top teams drew very favorable pools. Astros of course, rbi, 643, jcs, and the ga sting all should go 2-0. Should make for an exciting gold bracket at least. |

Card, I'll go along with you on the prediction except the Atl Blue Jays are not in this tournament. In their place I'll go with the Alpharetta Warriors. |

Also looks like some of these teams are going to go 0-2 straight to bronze.

Blue Jays and OTC are in the Tn. NIT I believe. Looking like the N. Atl Open is going to have some awesome 11u baseball this weekend. Let's hope so for sure. |

Which of of those could possibly go 0-2 with their schedules? |

Sorry, not clear. I was talking about the other teams in the top teams brackets. I agree with Going. For every 2-0 team there should be a 0-2 if not more. This is a loaded tournament. No slight against anyone. But you can look and see who has a tough pool ie a 10u in a pool with top aaa/major. |

10u Gamers RWB in pool H I believe can pull one out of the hat here. I heard they were pretty good but haven't seen them play yet. |

Heard we could see some additions and some subtractions to rosters this weekend. And some additions by subtraction. The revolving door of travel baseball. |

Looks like the game of Friday night is Hobgood vs. Alpharetta Warriors......should be a good one if Hobgood's bats are awake. |

Gamers 10U are real good but pose no threat to the Top 11U teams. Gwinnett County feeder teams are usually not their top teams (Brookwood, @ High School yes they are stout). In fact the win will probably work against them and put them @least Silver if not Gold and then draw a Top 11U team.
I could be wrong but I believe the Ga Hurricanes team, in Flowery Branch is their 2nd team. |

Patriots over Crossroads 11-3 in bronze. Patriots played well and are a class act. Other coaches need to take notice on the field. |

Nice run by the 643DP Jags knocking off two of the favorites RBI and the Georgia Sting in bracket. |

Yep...all the teams that had the talent to win it all were in the Gold. IMO there were only 6 or 7 in the Gold that had a chance to take home the trophy. Take the rest of the teams in the Gold and mix them with the higher Silver teams and they'd all beat each other on any given weekend.
Excellent tournament....congrats ECB Astros. |

I'm not an umpire basher but the tall younger umpire blew several obvious calls in the field that weren't even close. Nerves, being young or whatever the case was but he had a bad day at the office. We all do at times and I'm not bashing by any means. He did it at least three games that I saw to several teams. I used to umpire and I made mistakes to.
Alabama Stingrays battled from the 16th seed to knock out some tough competition enroute to a second place gold finish to the EC Astros. Hats off to the boys, coaches and family members from Alabama |

Looks like 643 had strongest showing to have 2 teams in final 4. Wow great job to their staff getting better every week while developing players. Its funny how by the end of the season great coaches teaching situational baseball begin to rise to the top! |

No doubt, what a run by the Jags to win two big bracket games to get to the semi's. The 6-4-3 program really played great baseball this past weekend. A big congrats to the Alabama club for getting to the finals and playing the Astros tough. |

I was really off on my final 4 prediction, but a great job by the Stros and Stingrays for getting to the ship and Stros for winning it. Also, a congrats to the Jags for a strong showing. |

It looks like to me that the EC Astros had the greatest showing....winning the tournament! Not taking anything away from 6-4-3....they do a great job.....but give some credit to the Astros coaching too! quote: Originally posted by spike

I think it becomes harder for some to congratulate some teams for coaching when they have a much expanded / much modified roster during the course of the season which is only half way done.
When people see a team with the same kids get better, the tend to attribute that to "good coaching".
I'll admit, in the past, I've argued that recruiting players is part of coaching; and it is.
But another hugh part of coaching is managing the players and parents that you already have.
I'm just saying!

Do you think there will be a drop off on some of these teams whose coaches also coach the 16, 17 and 18U teams and they are no longer able to devote so much time to the younger ages? Have they surroounded themselves with assistants who can get the job done in their absence? |
