looks like team phenom is the rollin, 5 shut outs so far. dont think any team will give them trouble, should be easy pickins for em. |

Good run by teams from GA!
643 goes 6-0 in pool play too (just like they did @ 10U), Smash + RBA Hawks too. Congrats to all the GA teams that did well.
Phenom gonna have their hands full getting out of their part of the bracket - have to play thru some (likely) tough teams on Thu with Piranz @ 8:30a & The Stealth Bomberz @ noon.
Good luck to all the GA teams! |

Kinda sucks that all the top GA teams are on the same side of the bracket which also includes Team Phenom. Hopefully we will get to see a Bombers-Phenom matchup early Thursday. State of GA represented very well so far in this tourney. |

Phenom is on another level, I'd be really surprised if anyone gave them a tough game in this one. Cooperstown is usually a ton of mediocre teams and a handful of very good teams. |

Watched a little of the SFCB Rangers in their first bracket game in CDP. They were down 9-0 in the 4th when I had to attend to something else. When I came back, I was supprosed to see that they came back and won 9-10.
Now that's a good lesson in not giving up! Congratulations |

Plenty of teams can beat the Phenom. Young guns, Tamp MOAB's (great hitters, might be short pitchers), bomberz, etc... |

Gotta put my blog posts in here for phenom...bomberz...
Phenom coach just told the bomberz coach he should quit baseball. Bomberz pitcher is just a thrower, not much of a pitcher. His off speed is too slow and he slows his arm down on change ups and curves. Phenom is hammering it. |

Bomberz pitcher just doesn't have the location today. Missing too many spots and not hard encough to get it past the hitters |

Phenom blow out. Their defense is pretty poor, but they can hit and pitch. 2 bad errors that I saw |

First of all Phenom here in Cooperstown is not the same team as in some season tournaments. This team has picked up extra players. They made stealth look bad. They are phenomenal and in this configuration as close to unbeatable as can be. Pretty amazing to watch in person.

The championship game was a blow out 27 to 0. Coooperstown will be in trouble if they let these type of teams to play in Cooperstown. This Phenom team was built for this tournament bringing kids together to pplay from 3 different states I was told. |

Yea, I take back what I said about 3-4 teams being able to beat them...When your 9 hole can easily hit it 350, and you have a guy throwing 80+ with location and a nasty curve...You are DOOMED! The finals was bad. I wish the NorCAl coach was more agressive...you have 2nd and 3rd with 1 out...a guy throwing 80+ going from the full wind up and one of the fastest guys at Cooperstown at 3rd...Why not try to steal home?
Also, if you play Phenom, you MUST PITCH INSIDE!!!!! They didn't challenge them inside at all. I was yelling to them to go inside after it was 19-0 in the first! |

WOW....Phenom seem like a (tongue-n-cheek) 1st class group. My question with the Cooperstown is: Why not make this a WOOD bat tourny? 1)With teams setting themselves up as ringers, ie..BIG kids at the top of the 12 y/o age range who should be playing 13u. 2)The technology of the bats these days. 3)For the LOVE of baseball. I know, and I`m sure I speak what others think as well, I come to watch a kid (mine and others included) develop into baseball players. I dont come out to watch a homerun derby, dont get me wrong if I see homeruns with wood bats @ 225-250 I will stand and applaud. But when I see one H/R after another with these stacked teams, NOT so much....Just my 2 pennies |

Agreed. We all enjoy the homeruns every now and then. I'm not impressed at all by teams with hired guns who hover over average and above average sized kids. What they prove is that they can recruit studs. They do not prove that they are playing the best baseball on the field. The Battle of the South was some of the best baseball most of us have seen in a long time. Wish all tourneys were like it.
Now when teams like Phenom go play in a 14u tourney and do the same then we can be impressed.

Sad part is Phenom would have hit just as many HR's with wood or pretty close...You have not seen hitting machines like them...everything on a line and the other way for the most part. |

Our umpire told us that the last tournament is when a bunch of rich dudes, build teams made of up the best kids from the season...He said that is where most of the records fall. That would be a great week of baseball. |

Totally disagree with making it a wood bat tournament! This will my third trip to Cooperstown and part of the fun is the long ball. You will have players that hit there first homeruns ever up there and those memories last a life time. We discussed as a team do we want to take players and try to win it or play with what we got and give the players the experience. We are giving our players the experience. For every great team that shows up there are twice as many teams from up North that the Rec ball teams down here would beat. Hope we get to play a few of each while we are there.

Even boxing sets weight classes. Phenom did a great job bullying up on some lesser teams. They proved nothing and certainly did not challenge the boys. It is ok to build a team like Phenom, but at least find other teams like yourself to play! |
